Nissan produced a new limited-edition Z sports car to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Z badge. The Heritage Edition looks like the 200-horsepower Performance grade of the Z and is a tribute to the first version of the Datsun 240Z. The Z Heritage Edition will cost $60,275 when it goes on sale this summer, but Nissan says they will only make a few. The first Datsun 240Z (S30-generation) came out in 1969. To honor the event, Nissan is making the Heritage Edition, a limited-edition Z car. The 400-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo Z in the Heritage model’s Performance trim is based on the base Z. The Heritage and the Performance both have a mechanical limited-slip differential and an automatic drive with six or nine speeds. Details that are like Datsun Nissan chose the Performance trim over the more powerful NISMO model. This may seem like an odd choice at first, but the NISMO wasn’t offered when the Heritage Edition made its debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2022, and the Performance was the Z’s top trim level at that time. The Heritage model has a beautiful Sight Orange paint job that looks like it came from a 1969 240Z. The bright color is paired with a black pattern that goes from the hood to the trunk lid and roof. There are sticker labels on the Z’s sides, and a historical decal is on its emblem. The Z Heritage looks meaner when you drive it because it has fender flares on all four sides. Nissan’s retro design included replacing the original wheels with a set of 19-inch alloys that looked old. The front’s twin grilles are a nod to the Datsun. When it goes on sale later this summer, the Heritage Edition will only be available in a certain number. The company hasn’t said how many it hopes to sell. The price starts at $60,275, which is $6,165 more than the regular Z Performance model. If you have that much money, you could get the more serious NISMO Z for an extra $6,615. It only comes with a manual drive.
