One of the best cars Toyota has ever made is the Celica from the first model. It’s almost the perfect size and looks enough like the original Mustang to be called a “Japanese Mustang.” People want this trailer more than others on Bring a Trailer because it has a Honda S2000 engine.

Okay, so Toyota fans won’t be happy that one of their favorite classic cars has a Honda engine. On the other hand, this build is excellent for people who just like cars. It’s not just a Celica with an S2000 engine; it’s a beautiful car representing the best JDM.

It began as a 1977 Toyota Celica, the last year of the first-generation Celica. Before getting walnut blasting, rust repair, and Nissan’s famous Midnight Purple paint job, it was taken down to its bare bones. Any car fanatic will go wild over the long list of parts hidden behind its beautiful exterior.

The S2000 engine has four 2.2-liter cylinders and a Koyo metal radiator. It also has Jenvey 48mm individual throttle bodies and a J’s Racing tubular header. The manual transmission has six speeds and comes from an S2000, but the limited-slip rear differential comes from a Toyota Corolla GT-S from the AE86 generation. Wilwood brakes, Bride bucket seats, an NRG steering wheel with a quick-release hub, BBS RS wheels, and an AccuAir air suspension.

It looks good too. It’s a JDM triple threat with a Toyota frame, a Honda engine, and Nissan paint. People liked it so much that the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles showed it in 2018 and 2019.

There are still four days left in the sale, and the highest bid has reached $15,500. Many people will want to bid on the car because of its beautiful looks, high-revving S2000 engine, and the suspension changes needed to make it move so well. So, you’ll need to be quick with your mouse button and have big pockets to get this rolling JDM best-hits CD.
