BMW’s new 5-series comes in a wagon style called the 5-series Touring. The electric i5 also comes in the form of the eDrive40 and the M60. Several news sources say that the car could come to the US as the high-end, fast M5. There are a lot of different Mercedes-Benz and Audi mid-size luxury station wagons for sale in the US. But BMW last sold one a while ago. The new BMW 5-series and i5 Touring wagons look beautiful, so it’s too bad they will only be sold in Europe. In spite of this, there is still hope because there have been signs that the fast M5 wagon will finally come to the US. We may look at the specs of the new 5-series Touring and its electric counterpart, the i5, while we wait for more information on the reported hybrid M5 wagon that can make up to 738 horsepower. The wagon body shape goes well with the new 5-series design. It is wider, longer, and has more space for cargo than the last model. BMW says that the back seats can be folded down to make an amazing 60 cubic feet of space. Do you really need an SUV? The tech features are the same as those in the 5-series and i5 sedans. For example, the latest iDrive 8.5 software has an in-car game platform and a huge, curved display panel on the dashboard. There is also a function that lets you drive without using your hands, which can be useful on the highway in some situations. There will be two diesel engines for the 5-series Touring: a four-cylinder in the 520d and a six-cylinder in the 540d. Later on, there will also be a plug-in hybrid called the 530e. The front-wheel drive with 335 horsepower in the eDrive40 and a dual-motor setup with 593 horsepower in the M60 are the same as those in the i5 car. The base option for both comes with an 81.2-kWh battery pack. It would help if you waited a little longer for BMW to announce the next M5 Touring officially. However, American wagon fans shouldn’t expect any of the wagons shown here to come to the US. Until then, we’re happy to have a lot of new BMW cars to look at.
