In 2024, BMW will offer a racing version of the X1. The M35i has a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine, making 312 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The 2024 X1 M35i will go on sale in October with a price tag of $50,895 as a starting point. In 2024, BMW will add a new M35i performance type to the X1 crossover, making the car even more popular. Even though this isn’t a customised X1 M, it has more than just M emblems. It has a more robust engine, better brakes, standard adaptive dampers, and a sportier look on the outside. This is the first time BMW has offered a faster version of the X1 in the US. Previously, the M35i model was only available for the X2 with a sloped roof. Showing the M version of the X1 could mean that the X2 branch will be closed in the US for another generation. The X1 was redesigned for 2023, but there has yet to be any word on a new X2. The standard engine in the 2024 X1 M35i is a more powerful version of the 2.0-liter inline-four engine in the base xDrive28i model. It has 312 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, 71 horsepower more than the standard engine. The Miller cycle is still used. All-wheel drive, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and a limited-slip differential are standard on the M35i. You can choose to add adjustable dampers and BMW’s M compound brakes. BMW says the X1 M35i can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, but we think this is a low estimate—the basic X1 with 241 hp needed 5.4 seconds to reach the mark. The X2 M35i with 302 horsepower hit the same spot in 4.5 seconds so the new model will do the same. It can also go as fast as 155 miles per hour at its fastest. The four exhaust tips make the turbo-four sound louder and give the M35i a more robust look. It also has new side skirts, more prominent front air intakes, a rear diffuser, and a bunch of M logos. On 19-inch wheels, all-season tires are required, but summer tires on 20-inch wheels are not. Inside the M model, sports seats, blue stitching, and fake suede trim can be added as options. Also, BMW updated the X1’s iDrive interface system to run the latest Operating System 9 software version. This update, available for all 2024 X1 cars, not just the M35i, will make things easier by adding more shortcuts and a better-organised menu. The M35i starts at $50,895, but the price goes through the roof when you add packages like the Premium, M Sport Professional, and other driver-assistance packages. The X1 M35i will be sold in the United States in October 2023.
