• In 2024, the BMW Z4 will finally come with a manual gear.
  • The six-speed transmission will only be offered on M40i models with six cylinders as part of a more powerful package.
  • The gearbox is the same as in the Toyota GR Supra, even though the linkages and bushings have been tuned differently.

The 2024 BMW Z4 will have a manual gearbox again after a long break. After the public asked for it, Toyota made the change a year after adding a six-speed manual transmission as an option for the almost-priced GR Supra in the 2023 model year.

The BMW Z4 2024 will get a manual transmission at some point

BMW says that the joints and bushings are set differently in each Supra, but the transmission is the same for both cars. Did you know that the Z4 and the Supra both have? The only engine that will have the manual will be the 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine that BMW calls the M40i—no turbo-four with three pedals for those of you who were looking for one.

The gearbox will have more options in a bigger package. While a three-pedal setup is sometimes free, the Z4 is expected to cost around $3,500. This is because BMW thinks that if you want a manual transmission, you need a faster Z4.

The kit comes with the normal M differential that is electronically controlled on all M40i Z4s. Additionally, the adaptive dampers have been made better to allow for more aggressive driving, and the steering has been changed to give the driver more input. It also has wheels that have been stripped, with 20-inch wheels in the back and 19-inch wheels in the front. BMW says that the manual Z4 will not be a limited edition model. The company wants to make as many as the market will allow. BMW says the first Z4 cars with manual transmission will be on the market in the first quarter of 2024.
