• Dodge has announced that the Banshee, a better-performing version of the brand-new electric Charger Daytona, will be released in 2019.
  • The Banshee will have an 800-volt design and a two-speed transmission, which is different from modern Charger EVs.
  • Dodge said that the Banshee will be faster than the Hellcat, so we expect it to have more than 807 horsepower and go the quarter-mile in about 10 seconds.

About eighteen months ago, Dodge showed off the Daytona SRT Concept, which was a sneak peek at the new electric Charger, which was officially unveiled today. The concept car and the production cars that will be sold this fall look almost the same. However, some of the most amazing features are missing, like the 800-volt electrical design and two-speed transmission. Dodge has stated that those are set aside for the planned 2025 Banshee, which will be the highest-spec performance car.

The Dodge Charger Banshee EV that comes out next year will have more than 807 horsepower

Devil Cat > Banshee

Think of the Banshee as the electric version of the Hellcat, which was phased out and had the most powerful Hemi V-8 engines on the market. The big-displacement, gas-guzzling engines were famous for both making news and having a lot of horsepower. Dodge, on the other hand, needs a new kind of engine to beat the old one because the Hellcat V-8 has been sent to, well, hell. Let the Shaman in.

Dodge hasn’t confirmed any claims about the Banshee’s speed or power. We can safely guess about them, though, since we know about the future Charger Daytona Scat Pack, and the company has promised that the EV will perform better than the Hellcat version.

With 807 horsepower, the Redeye Jailbreak model was the most powerful Charger driven by a Hellcat. The Banshee will almost certainly be faster than it. Of course, Dodge was able to get 840 horsepower out of the Challenger Demon’s turbocharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine. The next car was the Demon 170, which had the best Hellcat engine ever—1025 horsepower on E85 fuel.

But the Banshee will save that number for a later high-performance electric Charger instead of the first model. Of course, the car could start with a four-digit horsepower figure. Dodge says that the Banshee can reach 1000 horsepower, and one of the 400-volt Charger Direct Connection Stage Kits could make that happen.

The all-wheel-drive Banshee’s competitor is the Charger Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak, which means that it should have no issue driving quicker than the quarter-mile and sixty-mile percent times that it claims to be capable of. Dodge said it would take 3.6 seconds for the regular model and 10.6 seconds for the diesel model. Based on reports, the Banshee should be able to finish the quarter-mile in about ten ticks or less than three seconds. This is because the new 670-hp Charger Daytona Scat Pack can reach 60 mph in 3.3 seconds.

The Banshee will come with the extra Track Pack items for the Daytona Scat Pack. This includes Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires that are 305 mm wide in the front and 325 mm wide in the back, adjustable springs, and fixed six-piston front calipers. The brakes have rotors that are 16.1 inches in diameter. The Banshee, which is based on the Daytona SRT Concept, will also have wheels that are 21 inches in diameter and have a shape that is comparable to a turbine plus center-locking nuts.

In the past, Dodge has had to fight with gas-powered cars like the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. There is now only one electric power car on the road in the United States. Its competitors are the 1020-hp Tesla Model S Plaid and the 1234-hp Lucid Air Sapphire. If so, we can’t wait to see what the next few years bring for the speed of the EV market.
