• A teaser picture that was shared online makes it look like the 2018 Ford Mustang will have a GT California Special.
  • Today, Ford CEO Jim Farley shared a picture of a covered Mustang grille with a “GT/CS” logo that was hard to see on social media.
  • The name “GT California Special” has been used since 1968, even though the new “GT/CS” package is probably just for looks.

Soon, Ford will have another horse in its new Mustang range. This is based on a picture of a seventh-generation Mustang’s hidden grille that the company posted on social media today. A “GT/CS” badge is almost impossible to see. It’s a reference to the older GT California Special special versions of the nameplate.

Love in California

Today, Ford CEO Jim Farley posted a single picture of the new Mustang GT grille on his X account, which used to be Twitter. The headlights and huge air intake on the nose of the pony car make it stand out. The author expresses anticipation over the forthcoming developments for the Mustang.

Even though we don’t have any more information, we can assume that the new GT California Special will be similar to earlier models. The GT/CS was brought back for the 2019 model year by the generation that was leaving. Like their predecessors, California-themed Stangs had body stripes, special wheel designs, and other exterior trim items. The GT/CS versions also had more features inside.

The 2018 Ford Mustang GT California Special might come in car or convertible body styles, but we are still determining what extras will go with them. It also needs to be clarified if the remake will be available for the 2025 model year or just for the 2024 model year.
