• From what we know about the Korean version, it looks like the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will have some changes.
  • Going from a 77.4-kWh battery pack to an 84.0-kWh battery pack should make a big difference in the range.
  • From what we can tell, these changes will begin in the United States with the 2025 model year.

For the 2025 model year, when it comes out in the US after three years on the market, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is likely to have undergone major changes. The front and back parts of the electric SUV have been changed to look better, the battery pack has been expanded, and the interior has been improved. There is also a new model called N Line that has a sportier look and feel inside.

Hyundai showed off the Ioniq 5 in Korea, which you can see below. We think, though, that most of these features and standards will be passed over to the vehicles made in the US. The new car will be on sale in Korea starting this month. In the US, shops should open in the next few months.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 (2025) will have a bigger battery and a rear fan

More power and range from the batteries

The 77.4-kWh battery pack in the 10Best-winning Ioniq 5 can hold 84.0 kWh in the new Ioniq 5 model. There will be a big range increase from there. The 303-mile range of the rear-wheel-drive single-motor car should grow to about 325 miles with the new battery. The 260-mile range of the all-wheel-drive dual-motor system may grow to 280 miles.

Hyundai didn’t say anything about the Standard Range base model of the current car, which has a smaller 58.0 kWh battery pack. We will have to wait to learn more about what’s going on with this cheaper plan, but this model may be taken off the market.

Some more changes

New front and rear bumpers finish off the big changes to the outside look. The car is now 0.8 inches longer, and the wheels and rear spoiler have been changed. We’re also excited about putting in a rear window windshield wiper. We have yet to use this function on our long-term Ioniq 5 because it gets dirty quickly and is hard to clean off.

There are clear signs that things have changed inside. The climate settings and entertainment buttons on the center stack have been moved around. The steering wheel is also new, but it has the same pixel lighting as the Ioniq 6. The charging pad for wireless phones has been moved to a better spot, and the center panel now has new buttons for heated seats and other features. Now, there’s a button that can be used to fold down the back seats. Hyundai has said that the new navigation software Connected Car Navigation Cockpit is now available.

Hyundai said they had strengthened the structure and fixed the shocks below the surface. Also, more soundproofing has been added to cut down on the noise from the electric motor in the back. Better lane-keeping assist and park assist are two of the driving aid features. The driving wheel now has a feature that can detect your hand.

The Ioniq 5N Line

Hyundai is making a new trim level called N Line that will try to close the speed gap between the regular Ioniq 5 and the fast Ioniq 5 N. It comes with 20-inch wheels, a body kit, and unique bumper styles that make it look meaner. The pedals, athletic seats, updated steering wheel, and red stitching all over the interior make it look more sporty.

Some cars might have more power than the Ioniq 5 N Line, but the Ioniq 5 N’s 641 horsepower will be much stronger. Hyundai also didn’t say anything about changes to the suspension, which suggests that the N Line treatment is only for looks.

Later this year, we’ll have more news about the 2025 Ioniq 5, like how much it costs and what features are only available in the US.
