Sources say that Jeep will stop making the Renegade, which is its least expensive model, in both the US and Canada. Due to a long drop in sales, the Renegade is ending its run. Some metrics show that it was one of the least popular new cars on the American market.

Automotive News says that a Jeep spokesman stated that the Renegade would be leaving. After the 2023 model year, the small crossover will no longer be made. This will make it the least expensive Jeep car. Instead, the winner will be the slightly bigger and more expensive compact Compass ($29,995 shipped).

The Jeep Renegade is being phased out because it doesn't sell very well

The Renegade was made in Italy on the same base as the Fiat 500X. It came out in 2015 and quickly became popular, selling 106,606 units in 2016. Early on, it was found that the Renegade could “stoppie” or stand up on its front wheels when stopping hard. However, this feature didn’t affect sales.

In 2019, sales started to drop sharply, and by 2022, they had reached a total of 27,459 units. They had dropped another 35% by Q3 2023, to 6,4112 for the quarter. In June, sellers had more Market Day Supply than they needed for the first time in more than two years. This was because sales had dropped. That’s ten times the MDS of a normal brand-new car.

In February 2023, the Cherokee were quietly taken off the American market. The Renegade is the second Jeep to be taken off the market. The Renegade can still be bought in Mexico, Europe, South America, and Asia, though. A much newer small SUV called the Jeep Avenger joins the Renegade in Europe. It is six inches shorter than the Renegade. Recently, dealers have been giving big discounts on the Gladiator pickup to get rid of their stock. However, the truck will still be sold in North America in 2024 and will get many of the same improvements as the new Wrangler. As of the time this was written, Jeep had yet to reply to our question.
