Since 2004, the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger have all been built on the L platform. But it isn’t produced anymore. The last car to leave the Stellantis building in Brampton, Ontario, was a 2023 Challenger SRT Demon 170 that had been painted completely black. In 2024, a new model with both electric and inline-six drivetrains will replace the Charger and Challenger. In the next few years, EVs will replace the 300 in a roundabout way. Three of the most famous power cars of the 2000s are no longer being made. Stellantis’ Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada, built the last 2023 Dodge Charger and Challenger on December 22. This was the end of a long goodbye tour that included a lot of special editions. The claim, which Automotive News Canada first reported, was confirmed by a Dodge official. It had only been two days since the last Chrysler 300 left the factory. A Dodge representative told Invoice pricing that the most recent Charger was a widebody model in Destroyer Gray with Scat Pack, and the most recent Challenger was an SRT Demon 170 in Pitch Black. Factory workers posted pictures of the truck on Facebook before it was taken down. The pictures showed the truck’s ugly gold wheels. In 2005, the Chrysler 300 was the first car to use the L platform. All three strong American cars would later be built on top of this platform. Over time, the 300 became a hip-hop icon that was featured in a huge number of music videos and songs. People loved the way it looked, which was a mix of a tough, American gangster look and Bentley-style luxury. The Charger came out in 2006, and the Challenger came out in 2008. With their 5.7-liter HEMI engines, these rear-wheel-drive cars made V-8 muscle popular and were the stars of movies like “Wild Donuts” and “Burnout.” When the 2015 update and the SRT Hellcat models came out, they made the Dodge pair even more popular. The cheap, supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engines in the Hellcats made more than 700 horsepower and a scary growl. The 300 finished on a high note with the 485-hp 6.4-liter HEMI-powered 2023 300C, even though it never got a Hellcat upgrade. In their last few months, the Charger and Challenger got more attention, with a number of “Last Call” special versions, including the Challenger SRT Demon 170, which can make up to 1025 horsepower on E85 fuel. New pressing lines and a paint shop will be added to the Brampton plant over the next two years. In late 2025, the plant will begin making the next generation of the Jeep Compass and other cars built on the STLA Medium platform. There will be both internal combustion and electric powertrains. The replacement for the Charger and Challenger will be built close to each other at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Canada. The replacements will be combined into a single vehicle, like the Charger Daytona SRT concept. Most likely, there will be models with two and four doors. The latest Hurricane inline-six engine from Stellantis will be added to the lineup of electric powertrains. This engine can make up to 510 horsepower in modern Jeep and Ram cars. Also, there won’t be a straight replacement for the Chrysler 300 because the company is planning to bring back the electric vehicle market with a bunch of new EVs over the next four years.
