A lot of Japanese and European car fans in the US think that 25 is a magical number. That is the age at which cars can legally be brought into the US. And the R34 Skyline GT-R, which will be 25 years old next month, is a car that many car fans really want.

A lot of people are interested in the R34 Skyline GT-R, and for good reason. This is a great vehicle. It became popular thanks to the Fast and Furious movies and most racing video games that came out after 2000. It looks amazing, has an amazing engine, and could handle better than most sports cars at the time. The R34 GT-R, which is one of the most-wanted cars in the world, will be open for imports starting next year. It was first released in 1999.

The R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R can now be brought into the United States legally as of January

The R34 Skyline GT-R is different from other cars because it is the Gran Turismo car that every kid in the 1990s wanted. Its engine might have been the best thing about it. People still think of the RB26DETT’s 2.6-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six as a work of art. Nissan claimed in 1999 that it had 276 horsepower and 260 pounds of torque.

Japanese automakers had a well-known “gentleman’s agreement” back then that they would not officially list their power figures as higher than 276 horsepower. This was done to promote safety and stop people from racing on the street. Every GT-R tested on a dyno, even the R32 generation before this one, made more than 300 horsepower. But the GT-R’s great twin-turbo I6 engine was even better because it could be tuned. The owners of RB26 engines have made them much more powerful without changing any internal parts. This makes it one of the most powerful tuner cars ever.

The R34 GT-R was unique from the start, though, even before it was tuned. All four wheels were driven by a straight-six engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The Nissan HICAS four-wheel steering system was also added, which made the car easier to control and quicker to turn.

Unfortunately, Nissan Skyline GT-R fans in North America couldn’t get one because it was only sold in a few places, like Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, and the Kingdom. The gates to the flood will almost certainly open the next year. Fans and collectors will pay ridiculous amounts of money to bring GT-Rs into the country.

How do I get one? There are a few different ways to bring a Japanese car into the US. The easiest thing to do is to let a reputable, experienced import company like Japanese Classics LLC or The Import Guys handle the whole thing. They take care of everything, like shipping, registration, paperwork, and fees. You have to pay for it, but it’s easier than doing it yourself. No matter how you get your GT-R into the country—from a private seller, auction, dealer, or customs broker—you’ll need to find a customs broker and hire them to handle all the complicated legal paperwork. The process takes a lot of time and is too hard for many fans to understand, so it’s probably best to hire an experienced import company and let them handle everything.

Also, keep in mind that not all R34 GT-Rs will be able to be brought into the country after January 1, 2024. On the other hand, each car can only be imported after 25 years have passed since it was made. So, if the 1999 GT-R you want was made in March, you will be able to bring it into the country in March 2024. But the R34 GT-R has been in production since January 1999, so the first ones will be out in a few weeks.

You’ll have to pay a lot of money. Classic.com says that the average price of an R34 GT-R is $201,480. This is before next year when demand in the US goes through the roof. After that, add the extra import taxes. Getting an R34 Skyline GT-R into the country won’t be cheap, easy, or quick. It will also take some time. Rich people, on the other hand, have to get past those problems in order to own one of the most famous performance cars ever made.
