Even though recalls are never fun, they are sometimes necessary to keep you and other drivers safe while you’re driving. This is important for people who own a Honda Accord or HR-V from the years 2023 or 2024. There are small ones and ones for little issues, but this one is neither. The recall is directly linked to making sure that the two people sitting in the front are safe in case of an accident.

The seatbelts in more than 300,000 Honda Accord cars and HR-V SUVs have been called back

For those who don’t know, a seatbelt pre-tensioner is a device that tightens the seat belt around the person sitting in it so that they can’t move around too much after an accident. This is what we are talking about now. The pretension in the Honda Accord and HR-V is connected to a wire plate and a fast connection. In an accident, it quickly tightens the seatbelt to keep the occupants from moving around. Most likely, a pin that held these two parts together was missing. Because of this, the belt (or belts) will never tighten, and riders will not be safe in a crash. No, that’s not okay.

Luckily, there is already a fix. Honda dealers will change the customer’s seat belt with the pre-tensioner assembly for free. All of the fixes that were done on these Accords and HR-Vs between 2023 and 2024 should have been covered by the warranty. If not, Honda will pay to fix the buckle if the owner pays for it themselves.

The recall will be announced to all owners on January 8, 2024. However, sellers should have been told about it earlier. Check the NHTSA website or Honda’s recall page to see if this recall applies to your Accord or HR-V.
