• The part of Polestar that Volvo did not buy is called Cyan Racing.
  • This company’s new P1800 GT builds on a previous Cyan P1800 restomod by putting more focus on-road use.
  • With its current four-cylinder turbo engine and part-carbon frame, it will have a great power-to-weight ratio.

Sweden has one of the best tuner scenes in Europe, and most new specials are built on old Volvos. The Cyan Racing P1800 GT, on the other hand, is one of the best restomods ever. It was built on a 1960s Volvo car.

The main thing that makes up Cyan Racing is the part of the Polestar racing team that Volvo still needs to buy in 2015 fully. Even though Cyan Racing is still involved in racing, it has started to make a few road cars. We looked at the Cyan Racing P1800, the first of these, in 2022. It had the power of a current turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a frame made in part of carbon. It went from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and from 113 mph to 124 mph in 12.6 seconds. It had 420 horsepower and 2424 pounds of weight.

The P1800 GT is an update that is meant to make riding on the road more comfortable. According to Cyan, this large tourer is equipped with a suspension system that can be adjusted to accommodate “winding country roads and inspiring but comfortable long-distance driving.”

The Volvo four-cylinder turbocharged engine will still make 350 to 420 horsepower, giving you a choice of power levels. The engine is tuned so that it can be driven, not just sped up quickly. As standard, there is a Holinger five-speed manual transmission with a dogleg change pattern. The first gear hangs down and to the left.

This is Cyan’s first model, the P1800 GT, which is made for a customer in the United States and has a metallic green body and a sand beige interior. We really like the Momo sports steering wheel and the thick corduroy-twill carpets the most. Cyan says that the GT’s seats are more comfy and less limiting than the track-spec bucket seats that came with the original P1800. Instead of multipoint harnesses, retractable safety belts were used, and more material that absorbs sound was added.

Even though the GT is mostly meant to be used on the road and not on the track, it still has a steel roll cage that makes the structure stronger and safer. Cyan says it takes between 12 and 15 months to build each car from scratch. This, along with the very high cost, will make production much less likely. No one knows how much the GT cost when it was first released, but the first Cyan P1800 sold for $700,000 in 2022.
