It’s impossible to stop making cars. We often write about the wackiest and most unusual old cars, like a 1998 Mercedes E430 turned into a death kart or a VW Beetle turned into a pickup truck. But current car crazy is a rarer and more unique flavor; for every new Yenko Camaro with 1,500 horsepower, a 2024 Chevy Trax has been painted to look like a Trans Am.

The Bandit Outlaw form will be sold at Mecum Las Vegas next month. It looks like it was made by the same people who made the Bandit Outlaw unique cars. You might be shocked to learn that there was a Chevy Silverado Bandit Outlaw and a Jeep Gladiator Bandit Outlaw. No one is claiming these cars, even though they have a lot of features like Bandit letting and pinstriping. It also doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the Trans Am tribute builds that Trans Am Specialties or Trans Am Worldwide use a Camaro.

The thief probably didn't have this changed 2024 Chevy Trax in mind

Based on the movie Smokey and the Bandit, where the late Burt Reynolds plays a bootlegger who drives a Pontiac Trans Am and sneaks 400 cases of alcohol into the country, this game is called Bandit Outlaw. It has the same black and gold paint job as the movie car and has a burning bird on the hood. The hood also has a power bulge that is there for looks. Since the movie’s Trans Am didn’t have the word “Bandit” on the side of the Trax’s pinstriping, we’ll call this a current take on the original paint job.

This Trax is stock and almost new, except for the excellent paint job. The 1.2-liter turbo three-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic gearbox have only 146 miles on them, making it a great commuter car for a fun oddball type. Where else could you find a “one-of-one” Chevy Trax.
