• The Toyota Highlander SUV no longer comes in the base type L model.
  • The LE is the new base model for the mid-size SUV. It costs $2500 more than the base model from the previous year.
  • You can also get the Nightshade Edition for the Highlander LE and XLE Hybrid.

Toyota is changing the Highlander range for 2024 by adding the Nightshade Edition and removing the L trim, which used to be the base model. The removal is another case of a maker getting rid of a base model and raising the base price of a car.

In 2024, the base Toyota Highlander will cost $40,515, $2500 more than the base model 2023. The price of the LE trim for the 2017 model year, on the other hand, has only gone up by $100. You must pay an extra $1600 to switch from front-wheel drive to hybrid or all-wheel drive.

Toyota also removed the Highlander Bronze Edition and replaced it with the Nightshade Edition. The $1,000 kit is only for the hybrid LE and XLE trims. The Nightshade Edition of the Highlander has black trim on the grille, mirror caps, door handles, and special badging, just like the other Nightshade Editions. The LE and XLE models have black five-spoke wheels 18 inches in diameter. The XLE model also has black roof rails.

The black seats are either made of two-tone Softex or fabric, based on the model level. The XLE also has heated captain’s chairs in the second row and front seats that can be moved ten times with a button. The Nightshade comes in cement, wind chill pearl, midnight black metallic, and ruby flare pearl paint colors for the outside.

The front-drive LE Nightshade costs $43,115, and the all-wheel-drive version costs $44,715. Adding a front-wheel drive to the XLE cost $46,265, and adding an all-wheel drive increased the price to $47,660.
