• The Toyota Land Cruiser will return to the U.S., according to posts on the social media sites for the car company in the U.S.
  • Toyota of America wrote “The legend returns” under a movie of old Land Cruiser emblems.
  • The following Land Cruiser, which will be sold in the U.S., may use the same body-on-frame base as Lexus’s new GX SUV, which was just released.

The American-bought Toyota Land Cruiser didn’t die like a serial killer in a scary movie. Today, Toyota shared a short video on its American social media sites that showed old Land Cruiser badges and said, “The legend returns.” Even though the company won’t give any more details, the Land Cruiser nameplate will return to the United States soon.

After the 2021 model year, Toyota will no longer sell the 200-series Land Cruiser in the United States. The new 300-series came out first in other areas before it came to the U.S. as the more expensive Lexus LX. But it doesn’t look like the 300-series will be the basis for the following Land Cruiser. Instead, it might use the same body-on-frame chassis as the redesigned Lexus GX in 2024.

The next-generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, which is sold around the world as a smaller version of the full-size LC and the GX’s corporate rival, may be built on the same base as the new midsize GX, which was made from the start to be a Lexus. Toyota could then sell the Land Cruiser in the United States without the word “Prado” in front of it. A story in Automotive News made similar claims based on a person who knows how Toyota works, which backs up this rumour.

So far, that’s all we know, but we should learn more about the Land Cruiser’s return to the United States in the coming months.
