This Toyota Tacoma has been changed to look like a TRD Pro SEMA idea with two doors. Referred to as the ProRunner Race concept, Toyota claims it is designed to give people a glimpse of a race-ready Tacoma. The mid-size truck boasts a unique design that honors Toyota’s Baja racing heritage and professional driver Jimmie Johnson. The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is one of the big pickup trucks with the most power. But it’s only available as a crew cab with four doors. This is different from the brand’s famous trophy trucks, which have a two-door extended cab style, like the racer Ivan “Ironman” Stewart drove in the 1990s. At this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, Toyota showed off the ProRunner Race idea. This gave Baja fans their first look at a race-ready two-door Tacoma TRD Pro. Toyota’s display truck is a two-door Tacoma with a lot of TRD Pro parts. It also shows off Toyota’s longtime friendship with NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson and its new partnership with Legacy Motor Club. In honor of Johnson, the ProRunner’s design has etched the number 84 on the sail panels of the truck’s sports bar. The Ironman’s race history is honored by TRD’s signature yellow, orange, and red color scheme and matte black body graphics. Behind the decals is the mudbath color, which is brand new for 2025 and only offered on the TRD Pro. It sells parts for the TRD Pro’s suspension, like the 2.5-inch Fox QS3 internal-bypass dampers with remote reservoirs. It also has several skid plates and TRD upper control arms to protect the truck’s bottom from dents and bulges. In case the ProRunner idea doesn’t work, the TRD Pro’s innovative IsoDynamic seats will be safely attached to the car by a roll cage with multipoint belts. The race-ready Tacoma concept also has a fuel cell and a net that replaces the standard tailgate to help reduce weight. It also has a spare tire carrier built into the truck’s six-foot bed. Toyota’s design team used chrome mirror caps and door buttons to bring back old-school looks. They also put on a set of beautifully made metal wheels with red, white, and blue lettering on BFGoodrich tires. It looks like a really cool machine.
