  • The ID. Code is an electric car that can drive itself at Level 4.
  • There are also screens in the side windows and moving parts of the lights that work with other cars.

Volkswagen’s newest electric SUV, the ID.4, is both powerful and smart. It’s not too expensive, has a roomy cabin, a simple look, and doesn’t have any flashy electronics. Volkswagen, on the other hand, is showing off the ID. The code concept car is at the Beijing auto show today. This car shows a possible electric future. The stylish SUV is packed with tech features and shows off a new design language that will be used across the whole brand’s range for the Chinese market.

The VW ID. The code idea is a stylish self-driving SUV

The ID. The code looks like it was made with Volkswagen’s Chinese customers in mind, with its beautiful design and swept-back top. The arcs of the front wheels are especially well-shaped; they flow into the shoulder line and meet a simple rectangular backlight bar. Similar shapes make up the front-end lighting, which is made up of two parallelograms that curve inward to meet a Volkswagen logo. VW calls the edges of the lights a “human, interactive twinkling eye feature” that’s meant to make the front end look friendlier.

Of course, the crossover idea depends on lithium-ion batteries and solar panels built into the glass roof to power the electric motors. Volkswagen says that the ID. Code has “the most advanced sensor, light, camera, and screen systems of our time” and can drive itself at Level 4 levels. With this device, the driver can completely give up control of the car and unwind by reading a book, watching a movie, or, more likely, going through TikTok without paying attention. The driving wheel moves back, and the front seats turn 180 degrees when the car takes over. For quick naps on the go, the seats can be easily changed to a lying down position.

The lighting system turns the idea into a “digital avatar” that lets cars and other people on the road know about it. This device is called the “Light Cloud with interactive 3D eyes” by VW. The two-hour weather prediction is shown on the partially clear bodywork below the light bar, and the owner can start a visual and audible welcome sequence as soon as they get close to the car. It was said that when the lights are on, the autonomous drive mode will “interact with other road users,” but no other information was given.

Like other modern electric car interiors, this one is sold as an animal-free, eco-friendly “mobile living space” that looks like a lounge. Volkswagen also claims that the climate control system, ambient lighting, and sound system provide “private jet” levels of comfort. In the side windows, passengers can see semi-transparent screens that show useful information, like a warning to bring an umbrella if it’s going to rain.

Volkswagen also says that the ID. The code is “a first glimpse of a completely new SUV generation.” This means that a real car that looks like this concept is coming soon. How much of the ID needs to be clarified? Code will make it into the next generation of EVs that will be sold in the United States since the company says its main focus is on the Chinese market.
