Let me tell you something: things could be better for people in Europe. The Volkswagen T-Roc Cabrio is Europe’s most famous coupe or convertible, but it is not sold in the United States. This is one of the less likely results of the choices. Before discussing coupes and convertibles, let’s say that the T-Roc Cabrio wiped out the sales chart.

First, I’ll give you a gut punch. The T-Roc Cabrio sold twice as many as the Mazda MX-5 Miata, according to Automotive News Europe. In 2023, the T-Roc Cabrio sold 8,732 units, while the Miata only sold 4,570. Our country’s culture export, the Alpine A110, comes second with 2,155 units. The Ford Mustang comes in third with 1,921 units. The Toyota Supra comes in third with 584 units, followed by the Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ, which have 1,261 units.

There are a few oddballs, like selling one Fiat 124, eleven Chevy Camaros, and one Nissan 370Z. On the other hand, the list’s order is mostly the same as it was in 2022, so it is not a mistake. This happens a lot.

It seems strange that the T-Roc Cabrio is the best car in a group of excellent vehicles, but a quick look shows that this has more to do with how the T-Roc Cabrio is categorized than with how popular it is. Europe’s small SUV and crossover market is dominated by the regular T-Roc, which has sold 111,855 units. On the other hand, the Cabrio version of the T-Roc has only sold 7,8% of all T-Rocs. The rest of the market for specialists is by itself. If they didn’t, there would be no reason to compare the Alpine A110, Mazda Miata, and Toyota GR86 to a small crossover with no roof.

I’m not saying that a T-Roc’vert is my favorite car over the others. But it would be a grand tourer if I met someone at a random rental booth in Europe. Or it could be a useless way to make yourself mad. It will be an adventure no matter what. Think of it as a Mustang convertible that you can rent in Europe.
