The Flex Renoca Windansea might be the right pickup truck if you like old things but aren’t a Luddite. Flex Automotive, a Japanese car company, plans to open its first store in the United States in San Diego in 2022. The shop will sell Toyota Land Cruisers from the 1990s and 2000s. The new front clip resembles the famous FJ60-series Land Cruiser from the 1980s. The company has said it will only make cars based on the Tacoma for the U.S. market. The Windansea, Flex’s retro-styled truck, has finally been shown to the public.

The Windansea is built on the third-generation Toyota Tacoma, which came out in 2016 and will be replaced by a new design in 2024. It has a more boxy front end and a square grille with the Toyota logo. Each of the two squared-off headlight housings has a turn signal lens and a round headlight. The Windansea has plain steel wheels, and the steel bumper sticks out from the car’s body.

Flex Automotive says the Windsea’s powertrain is the Tacoma’s optional 3.5-liter V-6 with 278 hp and six-speed automatic transmission. However, the company says the details change depending on the vehicle’s source. Flex Automotive won’t say no to a check from someone who wants to put Windansea on their four-cylinder or stick-shift Tacoma. There is no proof that the effects of Flex Automotive go beyond paintwork.

There are many ways for customers to make their Windansea their own. Equivalent extras include lift kits, bed racks, fog lights, reupholstered seats, and head units that work with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for Windanseas. This is based on the fact that earlier, Tacomas had a different technology. New features include side steps, a better sound system, and WeatherTech floor mats. The Windansea is said to start at $52,800, but the final price of this modern pickup with a retro look depends on how much customization is done and how much the source car costs.
