• Hyundai has officially shared more information about the completely redesigned Santa Fe, including the XRT version designed for off-road use.
  • The XRT in production isn’t as flashy as the concept model we saw in August.
  • The XRT version has more ground clearance, an all-terrain vehicle that can pull up to 4,500 pounds, and some black trim.

There are a lot of similarities between the Hyundai Santa Fe 2024 and the Land Rover Discovery. So, it’s not a surprise that the company wants to cash in on the fact that big, boxy SUVs are often thought to be good off-road. The upcoming Hyundai Santa Fe will have an off-road-focused XRT trim level, Hyundai has now revealed. Hyundai has been thinking about XRT for a while; the trim level is now available on a number of their cars, such as the Santa Fe, Tucson, Palisade, and Santa Cruz.

The XRT trim level of the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV looks tough

Hyundai showed a concept version of the 2024 Santa Fe that has a higher ride height, big BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, a ladder on the back tailgate, and cargo boxes for the back windows. The idea also has a larger roof rack with a cargo carrier and spare tire.

The final result sounds a lot less loud. The changes to the inside look small, except that the XRT symbol is now carved into the seats. Black and dark chrome are used to finish the cladding and outer trim. The roof rails, which give the XRT cross bars, are also the same. The concept’s knobby BF Goodrich tires have been swapped out for Continental TerrainContact all-terrain tires. The new XRT doesn’t have any teeth, even though the trim gives you almost 1.5 inches more ground clearance than regular trims. With the pulling package, the XRT can pull up to 4,500 pounds.

Hyundai hasn’t said anything about the XRT’s engine choices, but it’s safe to say that Santa Fe’s regular 2.5-liter turbo-4 with 277 horsepower will be the only choice. Hyundai hasn’t said if other trim levels will come with front-wheel drive as standard, but the XRT will come with all-wheel drive as standard. The transmission that goes with this engine has eight speeds and two clutches.

Hyundai says that the turbocharged Santa Fe will be on sale in March 2024, but the hybrid version will be out later in the spring. The hybrid Santa Fe has a 1.6-liter supercharged gas engine that produces 232 horsepower. We will have to wait until the day of the sale to get official price details.
