Since 2021, Rivian has only been selling trucks and SUVs. But the company is already getting ready to release its third new car, the more affordable R2. The tiny electric SUV will come out on March 7, but web hunters have already found out some of its specs and prices. If these stories are true, the Rivian R2 will start at $47,000, making it one of the least expensive EV SUVs on the market.

Chris Hilbert, an X/Twitter user, looked at the HTML code of the Rivian R2 website with Web Inspector, which led to these leaks. In the source code, you can see the numbers for different parts of the website’s R2 page, which shows some of Rivian’s most important specs.

The HTML says that the Rivian R2 will be ready in 2026 and has a range of 330 miles. However, the $47,000 version is likely to have a different range. The top-of-the-line SUV with a big battery should be able to go 330 miles. The leaks didn’t say how much horsepower or speed the top-of-the-line car has, but it should be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds. If it were the same as the quad-motor R1S, though, the R2 might also have a quad-motor setup.

There are now more details about the Rivian R2. It will cost $47,000 to buy, have a range of 330 miles, and come out in 2026

The Rivian R2 will be much smaller than the R1S, though. The leaked information says that the R2 is about 15 inches shorter, 6 inches leaner, and more than 10 inches shorter than the R1S. Its length, width, and height are all 185.6 inches, 75 inches, and 66.9 inches, respectively. Photos and videos released by the company show what the R2 looks like a longer, boxier version of the R1S.

Rivian’s main goal with the R2 is to make electric off-road vehicles, but it might need more time for the trails than its bigger brothers. Leaks say that the R2 will only be able to clear 9.8 inches of ground, while the R1S will be able to clear 14.9 inches. The R2’s approach and exit angles are 25 degrees and 27 degrees, respectively. These are less than the R1S’s 35.6 degrees and 34.3 degrees.

The HTML contains some more important notes. The R2 will have a snap-in bike rack, motorized moving rear glass like on a Toyota 4Runner, and, perhaps most importantly, NACS and CCS charging. In addition, the code says that Tesla Superchargers will be able to charge the Rivian R2.

It’s important to note that Rivian changed the website after this data dump became public. This means that you can’t use Web Inspector to do your research anymore. That being said, the R2 looks like it will be more of an on-road car, and the price will be reasonable. But at this point, it needs to be clarified if the starting price of $47,000 includes any government tax credits. Thank goodness we’ll know for sure in just a few days.
