Volkswagen used camouflage to show off the new Golf GTI hatchback. It had different headlights and taillights, and the screen inside was bigger. This should be on the market in the US during the 2025 model year. VW said that the three-pedal GTI would no longer be made after 2024, so there will be no manual transmissions available. This hidden prototype, shown at CES 2024, shows that a new Volkswagen Golf GTI is on the way. For the 2025 model year, the hot hatchback will get a lot of changes, such as new headlights and taillights, an entertainment system inside with a much bigger screen, and better software with a voice assistant driven by ChatGPT. We’re sorry to say that the six-speed manual engine is no longer on the market. Volkswagen has already said that the 2024 Golf GTI 380 special version will be made to mark the end of production for the Golf GTI and Golf R. This means that the 2025 GTI’s turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine will probably only come with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. To make up for it, VW might add a few horsepower to the current GTI’s 241 horsepower. There are great disguises on the prototype that hide the updated front and rear ends, but the new GTI will look more modern. The new ID.7’s 15.7-inch screen has a lot more pixels than the GTI’s available 10.0-inch screen. There is a much bigger touchscreen on the inside. Also, we saw new settings on the steering wheel. These are a great improvement because they get rid of the annoying touch-capacitive sliders and replace them with real buttons. The more powerful Golf R hot car will likely also get the same changes. VW has taken the regular Golf hatchbacks out of its lineup since the Mk 8 model came out in North America for the 2022 model year. Now, only these two types are sold in the United States.
