• A record number of Lamborghini cars were sold around the world in 2023.
  • The Italian company that makes supercars hit a major milestone when they sold over 10,000 cars.
  • More than 6,000 of the sales were for the Urus SUV.

For big automakers, selling 10,000 cars a year isn’t a big deal, but for companies at the top of the luxury market, it’s a big deal. Today, Lamborghini confirmed that it will sell 10,112 cars around the world in 2023. This will be the first time in the brand’s 60-year history that sales will go over 10,000.

They sold more cars than ever before, which helped them break the 10,000-car record

The United States became the biggest market when exactly 3000 cars came into the country, and another 357 went to Canada. Second in terms of national market size was Germany, with 961 cars. The only countries bigger were China, with 845 units, and the UK, with 801. Italy is home to Lamborghini, but they only sold 409 cars there, which put them eighth behind South Korea. This is likely because the country has high taxes on owning expensive and high-performance cars.

Plus, Lamborghini was only making two models at the time, which makes the new record even more amazing. The Urus SUV sold the most, with 6087 units delivered. The Huracan came in second, with 3962 units sold. Following the loss of several cars in a fire on a car carrier ship, the last sixty-three Aventadors were delivered. The famous supercar was briefly put back into production. The number includes some limited-edition V-12-powered cars, like the last 112 Countach LPI 800-4s.

The new Revuelto, which has both plug-in hybrid help and V-12 power, came out too late to change predictions for 2023 production. Lamborghini says that the first three years of production for the Revuelto have already been booked. On the other hand, Huracan sales should stay steady as the model gets closer to being retired later this year. It is said that Lamborghini plans to release an updated Urus model soon. This model will have the same 729-horsepower hybridized twin-turbo V-8 engine as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.

Ten thousand vehicles is a big number for any luxury company, even if it’s not that big compared to the global auto business (Toyota alone sells about 6,000 vehicles every day in the US). It’s important to remember that Lamborghini only made about 8,000 cars in its first 30 years of business. There were over 13,000 Ferraris and 15,147 Bentleys sold in 2022, making them both five-figure brands. Rolls-Royce (6032 cars in 2023) and Aston Martin (6412 cars in 2022) are still the most exclusive brands for millionaires who want to be even more exclusive.
