Most people think of Japanese classics like the Toyota Supra and the R34 Skyline GT-R when they hear the term “JDM imports.” A good reason for this is that it’s very exciting to be able to bring in a lot of great Japanese cars that were never sold in the US. What about JDM cars that aren’t Japanese, though? Bring a Trailer is selling this beautiful 1998 Volvo V70R that was first sold in Japan. It looks brand new. There are only 35,000 miles on this V70R, making it almost as new as it gets. It has yet to reach the end of its original warranty mileage, though it is well past its qualifying warranty years. The original Volvo seat covers are still on top of the plastic wrap that keeps the seats safe because it’s so new. The car is very clean generally, even though it is 26 years old, but there will definitely be a few small problems. It would fit right in at a modern car shop. The list of rare original Volvo parts on this JDM Volvo V70R is what really has my attention. It comes with a TV tuner, antennas on top, and a JDM Volvo GPS that the factory put in. The parking pole can extend, Volvo’s TRAC traction control is built in, and there are rear parking sensors that look like periscopes and stick out from the back bumper. The suspension is sport-tuned, and the air springs automatically level themselves. It’s on the passenger side of the front bumper and rises with the push of a button, like old-fashioned telescopic radio antennas, to help drivers figure out where the front end is when parking. Under the hood is a 2.3-liter inline five-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 236 horsepower. There is also a four-speed automatic gearbox and viscous coupling all-wheel drive. A clean 1998 Volvo V70R like this one would be interesting to most car fans. For many mega-car fans, though, the dream car is a JDM-spec car with amazing, one-of-a-kind ’90s choices and right-hand drive. The auction ends in three days, and the current bid is $4,166.
