• Infiniti took a long time to make an electric car available to the public.
  • The Vision Qe fastback hatchback is an idea from Infiniti for the company’s first electric car.
  • The people who designed the Infiniti said the idea should make people think of something unique, bright, and lively.

Infiniti has been hesitant to enter the electric vehicle (EV) market. However, it has made an exciting marketing choice by making its first EV a stylish sedan instead of the more common mid-size SUV that most of its rivals have chosen. We will find out in time if it was the right choice, but for now, Infiniti released the idea for the four-door, electron-eating car before the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show.

To finally go electric, Infiniti has developed the Vision Qe Sedan concept

Vision Qe is a concept car that looks like a big fastback with the thin shape of a river rock. It seems almost half-carved because it is so smooth. The Vision Qe was based on the Japanese word “Sho,” which means the solid but beautiful flight of an elegant bird, according to Alfonso Albaisa, senior vice president for global design. Things like swept-back body lines and a tapered tail give the impression of movement.

The idea has dark metallic blue paint with gold flecks and highlights, from the wheels to the lit trim. Its lights cover its slightly tilted rear spoiler and follow the curves of its comprehensive, snowplow-shaped front bumper, making the Vision Qe an excellent example of how light can be used. Infiniti says that the vast wheels’ light gold finish and design of interwoven wires are meant to look like the wrapped coils of an electric motor.

The idea is exciting but must be fully implemented in the end product. This could mean that Infiniti’s first electric vehicle is just a regular four-door sedan at a time when people are moving away from sedans. The Maxima, the Nissan version of this idea, will likely be made at Nissan’s plant in Canton, Mississippi. Both companies said they would start making two new electric cars in 2025, in time for the 2026 model year. But no one knows what the Infiniti’s name is. It might come from the name of an older car, like the Q70.
