The Toyota Land Cruiser ROX concept is an open-top variant of Toyota’s hybrid off-road SUV designed for the SEMA show. The ROX concept boasts muscular fender flares and rides four inches taller with an eight-inch wider track. In addition to the sliding soft-top roof, the ROX features a triple-bar roof rack and seven auxiliary lights mounted on the roof. Toyota showed off the 4Runner TRD Surf idea on Friday. It is an off-road SUV with two doors and an open top based on the original 4Runner from the 1980s. Toyota’s Land Cruiser ROX concept follows the theme. It will be shown for the first time in real life at the SEMA show in Las Vegas next week. The removable top reminds me of old Land Cruisers. According to Toyota, ROX stands for “Recreation Open experience. ” The idea came from the Calty Design Research team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Calty group changed more than half of the original 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser to make the ROX design, which looks very different from the original. It has a very clear outline. The open back of the Land Cruiser ROX can be used as a pickup truck bed or a folding soft-top canopy. The back of the vehicle has been changed to include a sloping pillar with Molle panels and A-pillars that look like a trestle bridge. This makes the upper half of the vehicle more useful for outdoor lovers who want to connect their gear. Seven extra lights on the roof point forward to illuminate the road ahead, and the gray roof bars have a special three-bar roof rack. Toyota also added a useful midgate that allows you to move from the inside to the bed and store longer items while still allowing you to access the built-in seats in the tailgate. The body is painted a shade of green called “Spring Green,” which reminds me of old Land Cruisers. The carrier for the spare tire in the back is kept next to a handmade bin. Each bumper on the front and back of the Land Cruiser ROX is made to order and has a winch, tough brush shields, and red tow hooks. The “skeleton”-style doors have an open bottom half and sit on huge rock rails. Toyota also changed the suspension by adding forged metal control arms in the front and back. These added four inches of lift and eight inches to the track width. To go with the wider look, Toyota added wide, trapezoidal fender flares. The 18-inch one-piece machined billet wheels were wrapped in big off-road tires. Toyota used specially designed 3-D-printed parts, like the front and back door sills, to make the open-top area more weatherproof. The inside was brightened up with Heritage Orange leather, and the door panels have safety kits and webbing for sunglasses and other items. Toyota does not plan to make the ROX concept car. However, it is great that Toyota is trying out different body styles for the 2024 Land Cruiser. Toyota will soon make special edition Land Cruisers.
