  • The 4Runner Trailhunter will come with a lot of off-road tools, but we don’t know for sure yet.

Toyota has been giving us sneak peeks of the 2025 4Runner SUV with pictures and videos of its aggressively styled rear bumper and its motorized back window that slides down. Toyota said today that the Trailhunter version, which first came out with the 2024 Tacoma, will also be offered for the 4Runner.

They likely come with off-road gear, like the Tacoma Trailhunter. The Trailhunter name is aimed at people who like to explore land. We have yet to determine the exact specs, but the 4Runner will have features similar to those of the Tacoma Trailhunter.

The powerful iForce Max hybrid engine comes standard on the Tacoma Trailhunter. This is paired with a bigger, higher suspension setup and a front anti-roll bar that can be taken off. The Old Man Emu dampers on the Trailhunter make it stand out. These dampers have remote reservoirs and can be adjusted to fit big loads on the roof and in the bed. The Trailhunter also comes with a built-in blower, which is standard. We expect to see many of the same add-ons on the 4Runner Trailhunter. All of these will be shown tomorrow.
