• Mercedes-Maybach is getting into the two-seater market with the Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram Series, which is a more luxury version of the Mercedes-AMG SL63 roadster.
  • The Maybach makeover includes changes to the outside style, unique paint jobs, and improvements to the inside. The AMG SL63’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine with 577 horsepower, nine-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive system remain unchanged, but the company claims to have improved the roadster’s ride quality and quietness.
  • From the summer of 2025 to the fall of 2026, the new Maybach 680SL will be for sale in the United States.

Mercedes-Benz has a subbrand called Maybach that stands for more. Better in terms of luxury, power, appearance, and status than even the most basic Mercedes models.

Ultraluxury for Two in the Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram Series for 2026

The Maybach logo is used on customized S-class sedans, GLS SUVs, and EQS EV SUVs, it is currently offered on size-large chauffeur-ready carriages. I can think of Rolls-Royce and Bentley. This is different for Maybach’s newest model, the 2026 SL680 Monogram Series, it’s a very high-end version of the Mercedes-AMG SL63 racing car with two seats. There is a guest seat next to the driver for you if you choose to be driven around in this car. Not cool!

Debut during Monterey Car Week

Maybach unveiled the new softtop roadster 36 hours before the start of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which was a proper time and place for a car aimed at high-class car buyers. It will be released in the US in the summer of 2025 as a base model for 2026. Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener says that the goal for all Maybach models is to make the base Mercedes look as luxurious and elegant as possible.

To do this, both the top and bottom of the AMG SL’s smooth skin had to be changed. The Maybach model has a new grille, different front and rear bumper covers, unique 21-inch Maybach wheels, and gold accents on the sides of the windshield and the rocker panels. Mercedes has added a three-pointed star to the front of the hood and a gold spear to the middle of the hood. The sleek headrests of race cars from the 1950s remind me of the small, beautiful fairings that are attached to the hard tonneau cover in front of the front seats.

Two-Tone Paint with Printed Logo on Top

The soft top treatment and Maybach’s unique paint job are the two most obvious changes to its appearance. Wagener says that the Maybach SL will only come in two colors for its first model year: White Ambience (bright white) and Red Ambience (metallic red). Both have black helmets and white leather inside.

The new convertible top has a design that looks like a Louis Vuitton purse and is based on the Maybach logo that is embossed hundreds of times, it makes the SL even more striking. If that’s not enough, for an extra fee, the same design can be put on the hood as well.

Maybach has changed some parts in the tough-looking 577-hp SL63 to try to turn it from a sports car to a high-end grand tourer. The company says it has retuned the engine mounts to lower noise, vibration, and harshness, installed a new, quieter exhaust system to hide the roaring 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, and changed the chassis to improve the ride.

The seats were given more padding to match the new Maybach stitch pattern. It has all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission with nine speeds, just like the AMG SL63. Mercedes says that the Maybach upgrades add about 400 pounds to the base SL63’s weight of 4,300 pounds, but we think customers will need to notice.

When we can get behind the two-tone steering wheel and into the luxury driver’s seat in about a year, we’ll really be able to tell how different the car looks.

One thing is certain about the Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram Series roadster: the price. Prices will not be announced until the Mercedes-AMG SL63 goes on sale, but given the current model’s base price of $188,050, the Maybach version might cost up to $250,000. It will be exclusive for that reason.
