It is planned that the Volvo EX90 will be sold in the US in the first half of 2024. We now know that Volvo’s second new, bigger EV model will also be less expensive than many of its rivals. The Swedish automaker’s new EX30, which starts at less than $40,000, is also a surprisingly cheap EV. The 2025 Volvo EX90 is an upscale three-row electric SUV that starts at $77,990. It is not too expensive compared to models like the BMW iX (base price: $88,095) and Rivian R1S (base price: $79,800). The EX90 starts with the Twin Motor setup and the Plus trim level, which is the lower of the two. Ultra is the most expensive model. It costs $82,340 and has 21-inch metal wheels, thicker glass, soft-close doors, air suspension, and front seats that massage you. The Twin Motor system has 402 horsepower electric motors in the front and back. It claims to have a driving range of up to 300 miles, but EPA figures still need to be made available. There is a 111.0-kWh battery pack inside every EX90. Twin Motor Performance, a version with 496 horsepower that is more powerful, costs $5,000 more and starts at $82,990. It also comes in Plus and Ultra trims. The Twin Motor Performance Ultra that has everything costs $87,340. Ultra cars come with a Bowers & Wilkins sound system that costs $3,200. For an extra $500, you can add second-row captain’s seats that make the car’s seating capacity drop from seven to six. You can also choose from a variety of wheels with sizes between 20 and 22 inches. There are versions of the EX90 that cost more than $90,000, but that price is manageable when you think about how many other electric luxury SUVs cost that much. Volvo’s plant in South Carolina will start making the EX90 in the first half of 2024, and American customers will start getting them soon after. The pre-order website is already up and running, and reservations can be made with a $500 fee that can be returned.
