The updated 2025 Genesis GV80 SUV and the current model look almost the same from the outside. The new Genesis GV80 Coupe, which is part of the GV80 midsize luxury SUV family, is easy to find. The GV80 Coupe is basically the same as the regular GV80, but its roofline is more dramatic and drops lower over the trunk than the regular GV80’s. This car is like a few coupe-SUVs made by high-end German companies, like the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, and Audi Q8.

Wait a minute, lest you think this exercise in covering new vehicles is useless. There have been big changes to the GV80 and the new GV80 Coupe, which were just shown off in Los Angeles for the North American market: The new SUVs have a single, huge display that takes up half of the dashboard instead of the current setup of analog gauges and a 14.5-inch center display. This new 27-inch OLED screen blends the main infotainment features with the driver’s gauge cluster. It looks a lot like the widescreens in high-end cars like the Cadillac Escalade and the Lucid Air. Also new this year is the crystal shift knob.

How about that coupe?

This year, a crazy, bright orange concept car with a roll cage and other daringly athletic (for a midsize luxury SUV, at least) features was used to show the GV80 Coupe. Now, you can buy one. The production version is clearly meant to be the sportier option, even though it isn’t as wild as the concept car. It has unique 20- and 22-inch wheels and an added powerful engine that isn’t available on the base GV80.

All GV80s, car or not, come with either a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower or a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine with 375 horsepower. However, the car has a 409-hp twin-turbo six engine with electric supercharging and a 48-volt mild hybrid system.

Along with the standard Sport modes, Genesis’ top-of-the-line, supercharged GV80 Coupe has launch control and a “Sports+” drive mode. The drivers can also change how the brake button feels and see on the screen real-time readings for oil temperature, torque, and turbo boost pressure. There is also an Active Sound Design feature that changes the sound of the exhaust. However, it needs to be clarified whether this is done by adding extra noise that is sent through the speakers inside the car or by mechanical holes in the exhaust.

What else has changed?

For those who want more information, here’s a quick rundown of the changes made to the outside of the GV80: A new design for the skidplates bites into the ground from below, and the front bumper openings have had a small shape change. Like the smaller GV70 SUV, the GV80s now have exhaust ports that are flush with the bumper and stick out from it when viewed from the back.

The SUV comes in twelve paint colors, and the coupe comes in thirteen. The interiors of both cars come in five color combinations, with three new ones (Earth Brown, Bordeaux Brown, and Glacier White). These colors will be used all over the cabin, just like they are on the present GV80. Most automakers paint out-of-the-way walls a single color that is different from the main color inside the car to save money. (Keep in mind that the lower door panels and places below your hip line are usually the same color, either tan or black.) The door panel trim, seat upholstery, and other parts of the dashboard come in different colors. You will wonder why other car companies don’t pay more attention to interior color after seeing how well the GV80s does it.

Details will be given when the 2025 GV80s go on sale at the end of the year. Genesis is still selling GV80s for the 2024 model year, and half of its range is still for the 2023 model year. This means that the 2025 GV80 family won’t come out for a while.
