• The S209 was a one-of-a-kind model made just for the track. It was the fastest Subaru Invoice Pricing had ever tried.
  • The original price tag of $63,995 was the most expensive Subaru ever.
  • This is a one-of-a-kind chance because there are only 209 copies made.

Subaru hopes the new WRX TR will please some of its most devoted speed fans, but it is no longer a replacement for the STI. Because there aren’t any new STIs on the market, people are even more interested in the older, less common cars. You can buy the S209, the fastest Subaru Invoice Pricing has ever tried. It is a one-of-a-kind model.

There is a sale for a 2019 Subaru WRX STI S209 on Bring A Trailer, owned by Hearst Autos and works with Invoice Pricing. There are a lot of letters and numbers, but we didn’t fall asleep at the keys. In Japan, people have long thought that a WRX is faster if more things are added to the end of its name. For sure, that’s the case with the S209.

The S209 was Subaru’s first S-series WRX sold in the US, but the company had a long history of making track-focused Subies. The 1998 22B particular version, created to honor Subaru’s win in the World Rally Championship, set the stage. At auction, these can bring hundreds of thousands of dollars. They were never sold to the public in the US, but they can now be brought in.

Prices for S-cars 201 and up are lower, but people still want them a lot. At $63,995, the S209 was the most expensive Subaru ever sold in the US. It was only shipped in 209 units.

There was also a Subaru factory track rat that was the most committed. The 2.5-liter flat-four engine has a giant turbine, boost pressure, a high-flow fuel pump, bigger fuel injectors, and a new intake. The machine made 341 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. In C/D tests, this grunt could get the car from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and through a quarter-mile course in 13.0 seconds at 107 mph.

Along with the extra boost, the fenders were flared out even more than usual to fit 265 mm-wide Dunlop high-performance tires on all four wheels. The frame got more support, new aerodynamic add-ons gave it real downforce at high speeds, and the suspension and brakes were changed to make them stronger for high-speed lap racing.

It has 7000 kilometers on it, but that doesn’t mean you should treat this S209 like a garage queen. You can drive it whenever you want because it is hard to find, and its worth should stay the same. The new STI may be faster but won’t be as raw.

Wear your blue and gold World Rally Championship jacket and go to Bring A Trailer to place your bid (maybe for $555). A brand-new Subaru STI is no longer for sale, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get one of the company’s best cars.
