• Electric SUVs like the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S are very new. It has 600 horsepower and a range of 300 miles.
  • It is a Launch Edition model with an all-wheel drive and two motors, and it costs $71,995.
  • In the future, more Wagoneer S models will be added, such as an off-road Trailhawk trim and likely a gas-powered car with Stellantis’ inline-six engine.

Jeep is finally putting its first electric car on the market in the United States. The Wagoneer S, this new SUV, was first shown off in September 2022. Later this year, it will be offered as a Launch Edition car that comes with everything you need. It has an amazing 600-horsepower engine and all-wheel drive and can go more than 300 miles on a single charge.

Measurements and Lines

Any other Jeep model is taller and wider than the Wagoneer S, which is smaller than the Grand Cherokee. This SUV has two rows of seats for five people and is between a compact and a mid-size SUV. The style cues that can be found in other Jeeps are put in a unique spin. For instance, the seven-slot grille doesn’t have real air openings between the slots; instead, it has lighting elements. The liftgate is tilted very high, and the back end has an interesting spoiler. Jeep says the drag coefficient is 0.29.

Jeep already makes the full-size Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs, which makes the name confusing. However, we think the “Wagoneer” name here means that this is a luxury entry-level model. It looks like it was made to fight with high-end electric SUVs like the Tesla Model Y, Genesis Electrified GV70, and Cadillac Lyriq.

With a two-spoke steering wheel and wall-to-wall screens that include the digital gauge cluster, the center multimedia display, and a display on the passenger side, the interior looks a lot like the Grand Wagoneer full-size SUV. As standard equipment, the Launch Edition comes with a head-up display, a full suite of driver-assist technology, heated and cooled front and back seats, and a McIntosh sound system. The only things that can be added are a red leather interior and tow equipment that can pull up to 3,400 pounds.

Information about the engine and range

You can only get a Wagoneer S Launch Edition with a 600-hp engine that has electric motors in the front and back. Jeep says it will go from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.4 seconds. In the future, electric models with smaller output should be added to the line-up. For added convenience, the Wagoneer S is likely to get the Hurricane inline-six engine in the future. This shouldn’t be a surprise since the car’s STLA Large base can handle ICE powertrains like the ones in the new Dodge Charger.

We still need the EPA’s estimate for this model’s supposed range of more than 300 miles. Jeep says the battery can hold 100.5 kWh, but we think it will be more like the Charger Daytona EV’s 93.9 kWh usable capacity. On a DC fast charger, Jeep says it will take 23 minutes to charge from 20% to 80% fully.

Cost and Easy Access

The Wagoneer S doesn’t look like it was made for off-roading because it has a low stance, low ground clearance, and no low-range abilities. The Wagoneer S Trailhawk design shows a tougher trim level that will likely be made in the future. It has higher ground clearance and all-terrain tires. Starting tomorrow, you can book the $71,995 Wagoneer S Launch Edition. Delivery will start later this year. Keep an eye on this area for news about these new versions.
