Japanese tuner Aimgain has made a new body kit for the Toyota GR86, a cheap sports car. (You mean the one who doesn’t like to turn right?) Among other things, the new kit comes with a new front bumper and a sleek back wing. It adds covers to the headlights that look like angry Jeep Wranglers. This is the most odd thing about it. Are these in style, or don’t they fit? Even though the GR86 already looks like an enemy, Aimgain seems to have thought it wasn’t scary enough. Fair enough, aftermarket companies don’t just look down on the Jeep Wrangler. Putting small pieces of plastic over the headlights has made cars like the Bronco, C7 Corvette, and Dodge Challenger look faster. But we rarely see it on a hot new sports car besides Jeeps. Since Aimgain’s kit only covers the plastic parts of the body, no curves can be seen. Aside from the angry looks, the company does little wrong. For example, the front face has significantly been changed to set it apart from a stock car. The back of the vehicle has also been changed a lot. New aero parts, a new rear diffuser, and different exhaust tips exist. Aimgain sells extra kits that add parts like carbon splitters and side skirts that don’t make a big difference to the car’s appearance. These kits are for people who want to make small changes but are happy with how aggressive their body is now. The company also sells parts for the inside and outside of other Japanese cars, like the GT86/Subaru BRZ from the earlier generation. Aimgain once made one that made a Lexus out of a GT86.
