There will soon be no more sport cars. While many people have forgotten about some strange sports cars, we all remember the Ford F-150 SVT Lightning, but not the Fast & Furious electric one. One of the best was Toyota’s Tacoma X-Runner, which was the first off-road car. The name is being brought back by Toyota for a hot-rodded 2024 Tacoma idea that will be shown at the SEMA show next week.

In spite of the lack of public pictures, Toyota has posted the first part of its build process on YouTube. It’s also more than just an idea. The Toyota Calty Design Center and Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is working on this project. The downed street truck was made by Calty while the Technical Center figured out how to bring the raised 2024 Tacoma back to the ground. The Tundra’s 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which makes 389 horsepower, is what really makes it hot.

Toyota says that the car wasn’t finished during the planning phase, even though someone on the Cadillac Ann Arbor team built it with the goal of putting it into production. The idea for the SEMA building was just brought back to life. It has extra width thanks to TRD Pro flares and rides on 21-inch carbon fiber barrel wheels. Tundra control arms help with the extra width, and the truck’s air suspension lets you change the height.

The X-Runner has a short but interesting past. It could be added as an option to the second-generation Tacoma from 2005 to 2015. With its lowered suspension and Bilstein dampers, X-shaped chassis bracing, stock six-speed manual gearbox, and rear-wheel drive, it was called the “X-Runner.” It was a strange truck that the group used as an odd symbol.

Sport trucks are still popular, even though trucks have become tougher and better able to go off-road since the Ford F-150 Raptor came out. Before SEMA, more information will be made public, but this X-Runner concept car is definitely sick.
