2025 Ram 1500 Overview

What’s new:

  • Changes that are important for 2025.
  • Two straight-six supercharged engines will take the place of the V8 engine.
  • TRX is no longer on the market, but the top-of-the-line Tungsten trim is.
  • A part of the fifth version of the 2019 Ram 1500.

This year, the 2025 Ram 1500 got a lot of changes. Some of the best changes are the slightly redesigned cabin, the few new tech features, and the small changes to the way the outside looks. Plus, the newest top-level trim level, Tungsten, is the most luxurious truck you can get. The most important thing to know about the 2025 Ram 1500 is not what’s being added but what’s being taken away.

The 5.7-liter V8 engine in the Ram 1500 is no longer made, and the boosted 6.2-liter V8 engine in the off-road-focused TRX is also no longer made. This makes it look like the 2025 Ram 1500 will have an engine with up to six cylinders. We will not miss the old V8 engine very much because the new turbocharged straight-six motors are so great. The normal version has 420 horsepower, and the high-output version has 540 horsepower. This is more than the old V8. Our tests also showed that both engines help the Ram 1500’s amazing acceleration and towing abilities.

The Ford F-150, GMC Sierra 1500, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and Toyota Tundra are the next best full-size pickup trucks after the Ram. Because this group has many perks, you can pick a truck that meets your needs no matter what you’re using it for. This is what draws you to them.

Pros

  • The supercharged engines have great power and fuel economy.
  • It was a quiet cabin and a smooth trip.
  • There are several sections inside for storing small things.

Cons

  • It requires less towing and can carry more goods than its competitors.
  • The entertainment system looks old, and the screen moves slowly.
  • The top trimmings cost a lot of money.

What about how the 1500 is driven? It didn’t slow down when the V8 was taken out of the 1500 range. A strong straight-six turbo engine is in both versions. On our test track, it took 5.2 seconds for a Ram 1500 with the basic output engine to go from 0 to 60 mph. It only takes 4.7 seconds with the high-output model, which is a lot faster than other full-size cars.

It’s hard to feel the road in the Ram 1500 because the handling could be better. For whatever reason, we liked how predictable the car was to drive. It’s strong enough to hold its weight and doesn’t feel weak when going through small spaces. It’s easier to drive than some other full-size trucks.

How well does the 1500 make you feel? A unique feature of the Ram 1500 for a long time has been its smooth ride, which is made possible by coil springs instead of leaf springs in the back suspension. It has the smoothest ride of any full-size truck, and every other truck can’t match. The chairs are also of the highest quality and offer great comfort and support for a wide range of body types. The ability of the suspension to successfully block out tire and wind noise adds to the quiet atmosphere inside.

How is the interior? The crew-cab Ram 1500 has plenty of headroom and width in both rows, so both the front and back seats have plenty of room. The top trims offer a level of luxury and refinement that no other full-size pickup can match. However, there is a clear quality difference between the lower trims’ more workmanlike interiors and the higher-end models (like the Tungsten we drove).

There are many ways to change the steering wheel and seat, which makes it easy to find a good driving position. The modern, all-digital cluster can also be changed and gives information that is quick and easy to find. Even though the big windows all around help you see better, the high sides of the truck make it hard to see small things close up.

What’s wrong with the tech? Our Tungsten test car has a passenger entertainment screen with a filter to keep the driver from getting distracted, as well as an optional 14.5-inch touchscreen that is positioned vertically. Even though it has a big screen, the software that runs it is old, and the menus are all over the place. During testing, we also saw that it might take a while to answer to inputs. This cannot be very pleasant because important parts of the car, like seat heating/cooling or adjusting, can only be reached through a computer.

Ram’s hands-free driving assistance technology was added to the most current 1500 model. It worked great in our tests, and the driver almost always had to put their hands back on the wheel. The other driving aids make it easy to speed up or slow down the car and keep it in its lane.

How do you store things and tow things? The cabin’s huge size is matched by its great storage space. For models without a bench, there is a big storage area between the front seats. The cup holders are in the middle of a floating part that sits on top of the storage area. If you pull it back, you can fit a big purse or bag inside. Moving this island forward or backward can make more room for bigger items as needed. The back seat can be folded down to make a small place for cargo, but the storage area can’t be kept safe because it can’t be locked. Also, the floor isn’t flat like it is in some other cars.

The most weight that can be carried is 2,300 pounds, and the most weight that can be pulled is 11,580 pounds. Even though this is less than what the Ford F-150 can do, the Ram 1500 still has a lot of important features. The engines are strong enough to pull even bigger trucks, which they can do without any problems. The back of this truck feels less solid than the backs of similar trucks with regular leaf-spring suspension.

How much fuel does it use? How much gas you use is affected by the engine. The EPA says that the base engine and RWD will get you 23 miles per gallon between them. The 4WD truck’s standard output engine with straight-six turbos should get 19 mpg combined. The high-output engine, on the other hand, gets only 17 mpg combined. The F-150, with its hybrid drivetrain, and the Silverado 1500, with its diesel engine, get better gas mileage, but these numbers are still good. To test the 1500 Tungsten, we used the engine with a lot of power. The fact that it got 19 mpg on our test route shows that the EPA’s predictions were right.

How much is 1500 worth? Other full-size trucks can do the same job for less money than most of the Ram series, which hurts Ram’s value case if you want to use your car mostly for work. Still, the Ram 1500 makes more sense if the cabin and daily driving are the most important things to you because it has a great ride and lots of nice features (especially on higher trim levels). The Ram pickups aren’t the cheapest, but you get what you pay for when it comes to speed and comfort inside.

The Ram 1500 is very famous because it has powerful straight-six turbo engines that match the truck’s tough look. You’ll be happy with the Ram even though it’s not very fun to drive. It has impressive speed and comfort. The truck’s interior is also comfortable. The Tungsten trim, in particular, takes American luxury in a new direction by using high-quality materials and making the space big enough for everyone to stretch out.

We suggest the Laramie trim level for most buyers because it comes with a nice list of standard features and a turbocharged engine with high output. Some of the best new features from Ram are at this price level, like a surround-view camera and two wireless charging pads. When it comes to going off-road, the Rebel is better than the Laramie. It costs about the same and comes with about the same features.

Types of Ram 1500

In 2025, the Ram 1500 is a full-size light-duty pickup. You can choose between two main models: the crew cab, which has more space, and the Quad Cab, which has four doors. The crew cab has a short or long bed that is 5 feet 7 inches, but the quad cab only has a long bed that is 6 feet 4 inches. There are different trim levels of the Ram 1500. They are Tradesman, Bighorn (called Lonestar in Texas), Warlock, Laramie, Rebel, RHO, Limited, and Tungsten.
