Its sleek shape comes from its rear hatch instead of a traditional trunk. The A7 is more than just useful; it is able to carry more types of cargo, which is a nice plus. The 335-horsepower V6 turbocharged engine is more than enough power for most drivers, and the ride is safe and fun. We look at the more powerful 444-hp S7 and 621-hp RS7 models separately for people who want more speed. At the same time, newer cars like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series draw attention to the Audi’s old chassis; the A7’s completely modern and stylish interior more than makes up for its price. Spy photos show that a new A7 is being made that doesn’t have the typical hatchback shape. So, you should move quickly if you want the tapering roofline and the cargo perks that come with it. What's New? The base A7 trim, the Premium, will get a Convenience package with color ambient lighting inside in 2025, along with other common features. The executive package, which includes dual-pane windows, four-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and heated back seats, used to be an option. Now, it comes as standard on the mid-range Premium Plus trim, and it comes as standard on the top-of-the-line Prestige trim. In order to handle the smart home through HomeLink, the buttons on the rearview mirror have also been moved. Pros and Cons Pros The materials and artistry are the best in the world. The hatchback has a lot of useful cargo room. Quick S7 and strong RS7. Cons A6 sedans are much cheaper. Some sounds from internal vibration. Technology features offered on a subscription basis. Engine, Transmission, and Performance The basic A7 comes with a turbocharged V-6 engine that makes 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox in an Audi Quattro drives the all-wheel drive. The basic V-6 engine in the A7 has 48-volt hybrid-assist technology that makes stop/start performance better and turbo lag less noticeable. We loved how smoothly the Audi drove when we were driving every day. It had great grip in both dry and wet conditions thanks to its innovative all-wheel drive technology. The automatic transmission worked well with both light and heavy engine inputs. Audi’s A7 strikes a perfect mix between speed and comfort. From the moment we took the wheel, we could tell that the ride was fast and smooth. Even with the optional 21-inch wheels on our test car, the loud thuds that were supposed to happen in crashes were hard to hear. The support also did a good job of stopping body movements. With different drive modes that let you change the weight of the car, the driver was responsive, and the driver never complained about how the front wheels moved. The two A7 models we tried had very good stopping power, as shown by the emergency stopping distances of 157 and 163 feet. Safety The Audi A7 has a semi-automated parking system, adaptive speed control with stop-and-go technology, and other high-tech features that help the driver. The following are important safety features: Emergency brakes and forward collision warnings work as they should. You can get adaptive speed control and lane-keeping assist. Back cross-traffic alert and blind spot monitoring are tools that can be added. Internal and External Cargo Capacity Beautiful materials and sturdy switches make the A7’s cabin look nice and fit together well. There are many nice features inside each car, such as a panoramic sunroof, leather seats, heated front seats, ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, and more. I don’t like, though, that they can only be managed by touchscreens. The A7 also has a relaxed driving position with a great view of the outside world. For people in the back, there are choices for climate controls, power outlets for charging electronics, and heated seats. Two people could fit easily in the back seat, but three full-size bodies would be too much for it. The A7’s split-folding rear seat has a power-operated liftback that can be used to store seven carry-on bags. The car could hold up to 20 bags when the seats were folded flat. We were even able to fit a baby and a golf bag in the trunk. The A7 could have a better storage room inside, which is a shame. The front door pockets are thin, and there is a small bin on the center console. Fuel Economy and Actual MPG Based on the EPA’s scores, the 2024 A7 gets 30 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city. These numbers are about the same as the newer Mercedes-Benz E450 4Matic (22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway), but the BMW 540i xDrive gets a little better gas mileage (26 mpg city and 33 mpg highway). We thoroughly tested the V-6-powered Audi and got an amazing 36 mpg on our 75-mph fuel economy route, which was a lot better than its highway rating. The E450 got 35 mpg on the highway, while the BMW got 34 mpg. Infotainment and Connectivity Each A7 has a great entertainment system with two touchscreens that work well with the center panel and dashboard. Sometimes, the technology is annoying because it takes the driver’s attention away from the road, but the big signs are easy to see, and the haptic feedback is fun. It comes with a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot and works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are two great Bang & Olufsen high-end sound systems and wireless charging for smartphones that look good. Range, Charging, and Battery Life In the invoice pricing test, an Audi A7 with all-season tires and 20-inch wheels went from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. A top version called Prestige might get to 60 mph a tenth or two faster because it has 21-inch wheels and summer performance tires. Price and How to Choose The Premium Plus, which is in the middle range, adds a few functions for a fair price. This model is more luxurious than the regular model because it has better lighting, adaptive cruise control, wireless charging, and a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system. This trim level is even more appealing now that it comes with the Executive package and costs hundreds less than last year’s model.
