2023 Audi A7 Overview

The Audi A7 is a stylish luxury sedan on the market in 2023. It will have more features than the average luxury car. Even though it doesn’t have four doors, it’s one of Invoice Pricing’s favorite luxury cars. It is more comfortable, luxurious, and valuable than most four-door cars, even a few from Audi’s lineup. The A7’s sloping roof hides the large hatch. The A7 is an A6 sedan with a more attractive look.

The A7 is young, so 2023 updates will likely be minor. Audi has combined the Black Optic and S Line packages, and the base Premium model now comes with adaptive cruise control. One big difference is that Audi took the plug-in hybrid model off the A7 lineup, which few competitors do.

Important class. E-Class, 5 Series, S90, and G80 are midsize luxury automobiles. If you want more power, look at the sportier Audi S7 and RS 7, which are reviewed separately. If you want a four-door luxury car, the A7 is a good choice because it has as much cargo space as some SUVs, a quick powertrain, and good handling.

How do you move the A7? There is a noticeable speed-up. Our test A7 took 4.7 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph. Even though the optional summer performance tires on our test car got a lot of praise, they stopped quickly in an emergency. The Audi A7 is surprisingly simple to operate when equipped with the optional S Line sports kit. But the steering feels different in each mode. In Comfort, it’s almost too light, while in Dynamic, it’s often too heavy.

The power delivery can be slightly abrupt when starting from a stop, which isn’t suitable for a car in this class. In Sport mode, the gears aren’t held for as long, which makes the ride smoother. Upshifts are almost impossible to notice, no matter what equipment you’re in or how much throttle you use.

What kind of Comfort does the A7 offer? The A7 is a comfortable cruiser on many different types of roads. Standard chairs are comfy but less customizable than others. There are massage seats that work for each person, but they are expensive. Everything about the air conditioner works perfectly.

You can barely hear the engine at highway speeds, but the wind and road noise is louder than we would expect for a car in this class. It’s easy for noise from outside to get into the car. But none of it is very annoying, and even a low volume on the radio will drown it out. When the vehicle is in first gear, the shocks in the driveline are always noticeable.

How does the inside look? Even though the sloping roofline makes it seem like the A7 won’t have good visibility in the back, it does. Unfortunately, the slinky shape limits headroom in the back and makes it hard to get in and out. Because it’s not the roomiest midsize car, you’ll have to turn your body 90 degrees to get out if you sit behind a tall passenger in the back.

The new Audi touchscreen with two screens is beautiful but hard to use. The driver has to pay too much attention to the options, and it’s hard to learn how to use them. In haptic mode, you must press deliberately on items in the menus to choose them. You can get to a few features by drawing on the lower screen, but you must find the input panels first.

How good is the tech? An A7 cabin is an excellent place for people who love computers. The sound system is so good that you might never listen to talk radio again. The touchscreen and instrument panel displays are also prominent. The voice command system works well because the touchscreen is hard to understand.

In the A7 we tested, there were four USB ports: two under the front armrest and two behind the center console for backseat passengers. Under the front armrest, there was also a charging pad that worked without wires. The Apple CarPlay wireless feature is excellent, and the program responds quickly to what the user does.

Most of the driver aids in the A7 are very good. The flexible cruise control works perfectly. Even though lane maintenance is nuanced and good at making softer turns, it gets very confusing when there are tighter turns. Too-sensitive cross-traffic braking helps the back.

What about putting things away? The A7 hatchback has more cargo space and options than the A6 sedan and other cars with four doors. Because the A7 is a hatchback, the cargo area is large, flat, and has tie-down rings, LED strips, and side pockets. The cargo cover is small, but you can only put it somewhere if you want it. The back seat can be folded almost flat without moving the front seats. It has a 40/20/40 split.

Like the Audi A6, there are few storage spaces inside, so drivers should clean out their cars before getting in. Anchors for car seats are easy to find and make it easier to put in a safety seat.

How well does it use gasoline? The EPA says that the A7 gets 24 mpg in mixed driving (21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway). These numbers are great for an engine of this size and better than the average for the class. The EPA’s estimates are correct because our test vehicle got an average of 27.5 mpg over 115 miles of mixed driving.

Is the price tag on the A7 fair? Even though the materials and craftsmanship are excellent, our test vehicle’s rattling speaker and shiny chrome trim took away from the feeling of supreme luxury. But the A7 can be pricey, and the Q8 SUV has more space for luggage and costs less. The warranty coverage that a luxury car manufacturer gives is standard.

Because there aren’t many, Audi went to great lengths to ensure that this midsize luxury hatchback stands out from the crowd. Because it has the S Line package and grippy tires, this tech-heavy people mover drives smoothly, and the turbo V6 has more power than you might expect.

The A7 is very different from the A6, which it is based on, for better or worse. The back hatch lets you carry more things, but it cuts into the headroom in the back. It looks sleeker because of how it looks. Aside from that, it has the same high-tech interior and agile handling as the A6.

As we did with the A7 from the year before, we recommend the Premium Plus trim. It’s better than the base Premium trim because it has a few more features, like the optional Convenience package, which is now standard.

The Audi A7 will be a four-door sedan with room for up to five people when it comes out in 2023. A7 Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. The base model is 55 TFSI. It boasts a 335-hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine. The plug-in hybrid car from last year is no longer on the list for 2023.
