Our Opinion - 2025 Audi Q7 Review

Even though it’s big and has three rows of seats, the 2025 Audi Q7 is surprisingly fun to drive. The Q7 is built on the A6 sedan and has many of the same good looks and high-end features inside. The 45-series models come with all-wheel drive and a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 261 horsepower. The Q7 55 can be upgraded with a 335-hp turbocharged V-6 engine. In our tests, the V-6 sped the Q7 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds and raised its tow rating to 7,000 pounds. The interior design is similar to that of older Audi cars. It has a modern look with digital screens and well-placed controls, and the upholstery and other interior details are plush. Even though the Q7 has been out since 2017, it doesn’t look old because it keeps getting better. The Q7 is still competitive in the mid-size luxury SUV market thanks to the 2025 cosmetic update, but it still has to deal with the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Genesis GV80, and other more modern models.

Audi has updated the look of its three-row SUV with a new grille, updated headlights and taillights, new exterior color choices, and new wheel designs. Inside the Q7, there are now new trim and upholstery choices, as well as an updated infotainment system that works with the Spotify and Amazon Music apps.

Pros

  • A serene and comfortable driving experience.
  • A high-quality, well-crafted interior.
  • An enjoyable and exciting SQ7 variant.

Cons

  • The inline-four engine lacks efficiency.
  • Limited rear passenger and cargo space.
  • Conservative and unremarkable exterior design.

Anyone who drives a car should be happy with the basic 12-volt hybrid system and 261-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine. People who want more power will like the 3.0-liter V-6 turbocharged engine with a 48-volt hybrid setup and 335 horsepower. Even though it’s big, the Q7 feels light and low, like a sports wagon with extra air in the tires when it’s on available 21-inch race wheels. The Q7 is fun to drive down a curvy back road because it is more agile with four-wheel steering and the optional air suspension that can be adjusted. Our test drive of the updated 2025 model also showed that it has the same incredibly smooth ride as the previous version.

There are a lot of basic and optional driver-assistance features in the Q7 that will appeal to people who ship expensive items. The following are important safety features:

  • Automatic forward collision warning and emergency brakes that happen on a regular basis.
  • Normal lane exit warning and help staying in your lane.
  • Standard features include adaptive cruise control that can place the car in its lane.

The bedroom is a one-of-a-kind space because of its modern, simple design, high level of comfort, and high-quality construction. The interior of the Q7 stands out because of its high-quality materials and design, as well as the clever placement of controls and the supportive, adjustable seats. The base Premium models come with a lot of nice features, but the higher trim levels offer even more high-end choices. As with most three-row SUVs, the Audi doesn’t have a lot of cargo room when all the seats are taken. The back row can be quickly raised or lowered using power controls, which makes up for the slightly awkward operation of the middle row. It has about the same amount of room as its main competitors. The Q7 could fit 25 of our carry-on bags when all the seats were folded down.

The updated Q7 gets a little better gas mileage than the car from last year, according to the EPA. It gets 20 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg total for the four-cylinder car. In contrast, the V-6 version gets 18 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway, and 20 mpg total, which is a drop of 1 mpg. Once we get to drive a 2025 Q7, we’ll use our highway fuel-economy test at 75 mph to see how well it works in real life. We tried a 2017 model and got an average of 26 mpg on a 200-mile highway trip. The four-cylinder Q7 will do about the same.

The Q7 has a 10.1-inch touchscreen for entertainment and a smaller 8.6-inch touchscreen below it. The bigger touchscreen is used to control the climate and change the car settings. The system may be tasty or evil, depending on how you like to use touchscreens while driving. The Audi Q8 SUV, as well as the A6, A7, and A8 cars, now have the brand’s new entertainment system. All types of the Q7 come with 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, and all of them have the Virtual Cockpit digital gauge display. A Bang & Olufsen system with 23 speakers and 1920 watts of power is the most impressive sound system that audiophiles can buy.

Our test of a 2025 Q7 with a turbo V-6 showed that it took 5.9 seconds to reach 60 mph. Audi says the four-cylinder Q7 takes 45 6.7 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph.

The turbo-four engine is more than enough for the 45, so we suggest pairing it with the Premium Plus trim level. When you move up from the base Premium to the Premium Plus, you can get a surround-sound radio system, a wireless phone charging pad, power-folding exterior mirrors with memory settings, 20-inch wheels, ambient internal lighting, and illuminated doorsill inlays, among other things. It has all-weather floor mats, heated and ventilated 12-way power-adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, and four-zone automatic climate control. That’s why we’d choose the Executive version.
