Our Opinion - 2026 Buick Envision Review The small Envision SUV from Buick is competing against well-known luxury crossovers, but it doesn’t quite measure up. It and other Buicks aren’t really high-end; they’re more like a cross between, say, a Chevy and a Cadillac. The fact that it costs significantly less than cars like the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Cadillac XT5, Lincoln Corsair, and Mercedes-Benz GLC-class supports this claim. In line with Buick’s history, the Envision comes with a comfortable ride and a leather interior. It’s also really beautiful. However, it lacks sufficient power, and the other materials aren’t what we’d expect from a high-end car. What's New? This year, Envision hasn’t changed much. Three colors have been taken away: Calypso Blue Metallic, Smokey Amethyst Metallic, and White Frost Tricoat. Two new colors have been added. These are the changes that stand out the most. Midnight Opal is only available on the Avenir model, but Quartz Blue Metallic is now available on all models. Pros and Cons Pros: Great technology and benefits that come with it. A simple pattern on the outside. The seats are nice and soft. Cons: The motor is sanded. Materials that feel cheap. Not really luxury in a good way. Engine, Transmission, and Performance All Envision models are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine producing 228 horsepower. It comes standard with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Its rivals are faster than the Envision, but it struggles to keep up due to a lack of sufficient power. The performance is bad even when the Sport drive mode is on. As you might expect from a Buick, though, the Envision puts ride comfort ahead of driver interest. That being said, the Envision will not let you down. The rear of this boat feels quite unstable. Safety A 360-degree outdoor camera system, automatic high-beam headlamps, and adaptive cruise control with lane-centering are just a few of the driver-assistance features that come standard with the Buick Envision. The following are important safety features: Most automatic emergency brakes can tell who is on the road. Standard lane exit warning helps keep you in your lane. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, which can help keep the car in its lane. Internal and External Cargo Capacity Most of Envision’s high-end features are not standard, except for the leather seats, which come as standard on the mid-range Sport Touring version, despite its high price. Even though the instrument panel looks futuristic and has a big 30-inch touchscreen with a nice mid-century modern shape, the environment inside is just fine, not great. The interior offers ample space for a compact SUV, but it lacks a stylish appearance unless you choose the Avenir trim. Even then, the Envision doesn’t quite match the upscale look of its German rivals. The Avenir, on the other hand, features a massage function for the driver’s seat, heated and cooled front seats, and quilted leather interior. It’s also clear that the Envision is useful as an SUV. When we tested this little Buick, the back seats could be folded flat to make room for 21 carry-on bags. Fuel Economy and Actual MPG The 2025 model got 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The EPA has not yet published fuel economy ratings for the 2026 Envision. We’ll add the results to this story as soon as we can test the new Envision on our 75-mph highway fuel economy route. Infotainment and Connectivity If you want to connect, Envision does not let you down. They all feature active noise cancellation, a nine-speaker Bose stereo, four USB ports, SiriusXM satellite radio, in-dash navigation, a head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The large 30-inch touchscreen, which houses the entertainment system and the driver’s gauges, is what really draws people to it, though. Range, Charging, and Battery Life At our test track, the Buick took 7.3 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, which wasn’t very impressive. On the other hand, most buyers should be happy with how well it performs on the road. Price and How to Choose The price of a 2026 Buick Envision is expected to range from $38,000 to $48,000, depending on the grade and selected options. The Buick Envision Avenir has many nice features, but we prefer the Sport Touring option because it adds a lot of useful standard features without going overboard. For instance, it features a blackout exterior trim. The Comfort and Convenience Package offers a hands-free power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, an air quality monitor, automatic air recirculation, a universal garage door opener, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats for both the driver and passenger.
