Our Opinion - 2025 Gmc Terrain Review

GMC’s most recent SUV to get a makeover is the 2025 Terrain, which is in the company’s small range of trucks. Some of Terrain’s new features include all-new sheet metal and headlights that look like those on bigger Yukon SUVs. The new Terrain, like the previous iteration, is based on the Chevrolet Equinox platform. Either the front-or all-wheel drive versions of the 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 175 horsepower are available for both SUVs. When compared to the Chevy, the Terrain has a nicer interior and a bigger touchscreen display that is mounted vertically on the dashboard between the driver and the front passenger. Retailers should have the new Terrain by the end of 2024.

The Terrain will be updated for the 2025 model year with more modern features and a more aggressive design.

Pros

  • Bold, rugged styling.
  • Enhanced, larger digital displays.
  • A wide range of standard driver assist features.

Cons

  • The Chevy Equinox may not offer as much value as expected.
  • The engine remains largely unchanged.
  • There are more compelling rivals on the market.

All Terrains’s 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates 175 hp. All-wheel-drive cars have a basic eight-speed automatic transmission, while front-wheel-drive cars have a more advanced continuously variable automatic transmission. All of these SUVs have yet to be tested, and both settings are shared with the Chevrolet Equinox, which is mechanically similar. We’ll add test results and feedback on the driving experience to this story as soon as we get them.

A system that watches out for cyclists on the side of the road is one of the basic driver-assistance tools on the Terrain. Important safety factors are listed below:

  • Detecting bikes and people on foot and using normal automatic emergency braking.
  • Onboard cross-traffic alert and blind spot tracking are standard.
  • Normal adaptive cruise control.

The two-row SUV Terrain seats five people. The 15.0-inch infotainment tablet is mounted vertically on the dashboard, and other high-tech and comfort features inside are mixed with the tough looks common in GMC’s truck lineup. Keyless entry, warm seats, and a heated steering wheel come with every model. Photos make the interior elements look pretty good, but we will only decide for sure once we can drive the Terrain. We’ll test the Terrain’s cargo space as soon as we can by putting our carry-on bags in it and adding information to this article.

According to EPA estimations, the Terrain can get up to 28 highway mpg and 26 city mpg with front-wheel drive. However, when equipped with all-wheel drive, the city mpg can be reduced to 24. We will update this page when the Terrain passes our real-world speed fuel-economy test.

All models include a 15.0-inch infotainment tablet running GM’s newest Google-based interface. Smartphone owners can add more apps to their systems when they have a 5G data link. The Google Maps app helps users navigate. In addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, every model has an 11.0-inch digital gauge display.

The 2025 GMC Terrain starts at $31,395.

Options for the base Elevation model, which will only be offered this year, include a 15.0-inch infotainment screen, aluminum wheels, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, and remote start. GMC is going to make a Denali grade for luxury and an AT4 grade for toughness for the 2026 model year.
