Our Opinion - 2025 GMC Yukon Review

Interesting information regarding the GMC Yukon and the Yukon XL, which has a longer wheelbase, is shared. They have a different appearance and are positioned as more premium, yet they use the same base as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. One of two powerful V-8 engines offered, the diesel engine in a full-size SUV from General Motors produces 27 highway mpg. The engine is very torquey. The Yukon and Co.’s independent rear suspension significantly improves ride and handling over the previous generation’s solid back axle. There is plenty of room inside for bags and other stuff that you use daily. There are also three rows of seats, which can accommodate up to eight people. You can customise your Yukon with as many advanced features as you like, including the top-tier Denali and Denali Ultimate packages. While the Yukon shares its platform with the Cadillac Escalade, it offers a sportier feel and more cutting-edge technology, whereas the Escalade focuses on luxury. This explains the difference in price between the two models.

Grilles and headlamps were replaced on the front fascia. You may now change Yukon’s front and rear lights. The handsome 24-inch wheels are standard on the Denali Ultimate but available as an option for the regular Denali. The garnishes were also altered. The new Elevation model has superseded the SLE and SLT. In addition, a new type named the AT4 Ultimate will be available in 2025. It combines the AT4’s off-road capabilities with luxurious features such as massaging front seats, full-grain leather on all three rows, and open-pore wood trim inside. The Denali Ultimate now features executive chairs in the second row as well as a 22-speaker Bose sound system. In addition to a 16.8-inch touchscreen mounted vertically, the Chevy infotainment system boasts state-of-the-art night vision with infrared object detection. The 3.0 litre inline-six Duramax diesel engine, which is more powerful, is the only change.

Pros

  • Huge amount of space within.
  • Better digital screens.
  • Both high-end and off-road models.

Cons

  • There are some Chevys that look equally decent for less money.
  • It will be costly.

A diesel engine powers the Yukon, and two gasoline-powered V-8 engines. The Elevation and AT4 both have a 5.3-liter V-8 engine that produces 355 horsepower. The Denali and Denali Ultimate include a 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 420 horsepower, which may also be used in the AT4. All models can now employ the diesel 3.0-liter inline-six engine, which used to produce 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The Yukon models all have either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the transmission has ten gears. When the gear shifter is replaced with a handle on the steering column rather than buttons on the dashboard, it will be easier to understand by 2025. The AT4 variant has 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, an optional air suspension that can increase ground clearance by up to two inches, and a two-speed transfer case. It also includes underbody skid plates. The Yukon offers three good powertrains, but we believe the diesel is the best for its purpose and weight due to its higher low-end speed and better gas mileage.

Several driver-assistance systems are available, but GMC only includes the most basic ones. Clients must spend more on more complex options. Extras include the well-known GM Super Cruise hands-free driving option and night vision with infrared object identification. Check out the NHTSA and IIHS websites for more details about the Yukon’s crash test results.

Important safety elements include the following:

  • Automatic forward collision warning and emergency braking are standard features.
  • You can receive lane-keeping assistance and lane departure warning.
  • Hands-free driving allows you to employ adaptive cruise control.

The Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL can seat up to eight passengers, but only seven if you add the second-row captain’s seats. Some Denali variants have open-pore wood trim with chrome highlights and laser-etched maps. The Denali also features 16-way power-adjustable front seats with heated, cooled, and massage cushions. The Yukon boasts executive second-row seating, including luxurious captain’s seats. There is plenty of space for cargo, especially in the larger XL variant. When all of the seats are folded down, the second model boasts an impressive 145 cubic feet of cargo space, whereas the normal Yukon only has 133 cubic feet. In C/D tests, the standard-length Yukon had enough room behind the third-row seats for six carry-on baggage. With the third and second seats pulled down, we could accommodate 35 guests.

Even though the fuel efficiency ratings for the 2025 Yukon are not yet available, they will be similar to those for the 2024 versions. Modern Yukons equipped with 5.3-liter V-8 engines can receive 15 city mpg and 20 highway mpg. City fuel economy for Yukons powered by 6.2-liter engines is 14 mpg and highway fuel economy is 20 mpg. The diesel engine’s exceptional fuel economy—up to 21 city mpg and 27 highway mpg—should come as no surprise. It is expected, however, that these numbers will change after the reforms in 2025. The Denali we tested with the 6.2-liter engine got 20 miles per gallon on our highway fuel economy route, which we set at 75 miles per hour. Like the prior Tahoe we tested, the Yukon diesel ought to get respectable gas mileage. The Tahoe achieved an outstanding 27 mpg in the identical test.

The Yukon’s entertainment system is a 16.8-inch tablet that tilts up and down. Because it has Google software built in, you can use a wide range of apps. It contains a Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which operate wirelessly. As an added treat, the Yukon offers comfortable captain’s chairs to all guests, not just those in the front row. The most premium second-row seats include speakers incorporated into the headrests as part of the 22-speaker Bose sound system. Patrons seated in the rear can adjust the parameters with the help of an 8.0-inch tablet. Additionally, there is a method to occupy children in the rear seat.

Using a Denali model powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 engine, we were able to achieve a 6.0-second run from zero to sixty miles per hour. The stopping power was noticeably superior to that of the previous generation. Although we haven’t performed an instrumented test on a Yukon equipped with a diesel engine, we did test a Tahoe with the same engine, which achieved a 0 to 60 mph time of 7.8 seconds.

The Yukon, with its 5.3-liter V-8 and rear-wheel drive, is the ideal hauling vehicle. It can support up to 8,400 pounds. The 6.2-liter V-8 can also tow 8200 pounds, just like the Duramax diesel. The biggest V-8 has 495 pound-feet of torque, but the diesel has 35 times that. It’s worth noting that both V-8s produce their highest torque at higher RPM, while the diesel produces its most torque below 2000 RPM. In every scenario, all-wheel drive reduces towing rates by 200 pounds. Many technical advancements have made it easier to tow a trailer. One of these features is Transparent Trailer View, which allows you to see objects that aren’t moving behind the trailer while blocking your view of the trailer itself. Blind Zone Steering Assist measures the length of the trailer and causes the steering wheel to move quickly to alert the driver when a car is in its blind area. There’s also a jackknife warning, which does exactly what the name implies.

The Elevation trim is the most useful model unless you need to carry VIPs. Of course, the AT4 is the better choice for people who want to go off-road or need to get to a faraway house. When prices for the 2025 Yukon are ready, they will be shown on this page. The car is expected to be sold by the end of the year.
