2023 Volkswagen Jetta Overview

What’s new:

  • The SE trim level now includes remote start.
  • USB charging ports now have more power (late availability)
  • A 2019 model from the seventh generation of the Volkswagen Jetta

The Volkswagen Jetta received a significant redesign last year and is expected to remain essentially unchanged in 2023, with the only notable improvement being remote start for SE variants. The Jetta is now a more competitive alternative to the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, and Kia Forte (Invoice Pricing’ top-rated compact sedans).

The changes were new aesthetics, more standard equipment, improved technology, and a new turbocharged engine. These should boost Jetta’s performance. The Jetta’s 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine produces 158 horsepower, an 11-horsepower increase over the previous model and one that should make it feel less sluggish. The Jetta GLI boasts GTI-like performance in a sedan.

The angular Elantra and Forte contrast sharply with Volkswagen’s simple design, and the Jetta is less severe than the Civic. Unlike other Volkswagen vehicles, which overuse touch controls on the center stack and steering wheel, the Jetta uses dials and buttons for the climate and volume/tuning knobs for the screen. GTI and ID.4 could go further back.

The Jetta stands out as an alternative to popular compact sedans because of its beauty and value, broad list of standard amenities, and two years/20,000 miles of routine maintenance. Its spacious back seat makes it an excellent choice for those who frequently transport more than two people.

Pros:

  • A pleasant and calm ride
  • Inside the cabin, there is storage space.
  • Digital instrumentation that can customize gives off a futuristic vibe.

Cons:

  • The brakes feel spongy at low speeds.
  • It may be challenging to use touch-sensitive steering wheel controls.
  • The cabin is more flimsy than the rest of the group’s structures.

The Jetta comes well-equipped even in the base model, but we recommend the SE trim. It costs only slightly more than the base model. It includes keyless entry, heated seats, simulated leather, rain-sensing wipers as standard equipment, and all of Jetta’s optional safety systems. Although the technological advancements of the SEL are appealing (particularly wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), the price increase is excessive.

Volkswagen Jetta models

The Volkswagen Jetta 2023 comes in four trim levels: S, Sport, SE, and SEL. There is also a sportier GLI model, which we will discuss separately. All variants are powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the Taos, which was added to the Jetta last year. It only has front-wheel drive and produces 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet torque. The S and Sport models have a six-speed manual transmission as standard, while the rest have an eight-speed automatic.
