2024 Volkswagen Jetta Overview

What’s new

  • More popular features that help drivers.
  • You can also get some more minor regular feature upgrades.
  • One of the 2019 Volkswagen Jettas from the seventh generation.

Since Volkswagen recently removed the regular Golf hatchback and Passat sedan, the 2024 Jetta is now the only car they can make. It’s less well-known than cars like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, but its stylish, Audi-like form and high-tech features give it some weight. The Jetta’s more understated look will appeal to some and bore others, but the VW’s value can’t be argued. One of the best things about this year’s Jetta is that it comes with many modern driving aids. The model from last year only gave a few.

The only thing that will change about the Jetta in 2024 is the IQ—driver package of basic driving assistance features. Most of the driving aids that came with last year’s model were optional, except for blind-spot warning and automatic brakes. This year, all of the Jetta’s features come as standard. This makes it more competitive with cars from Honda, Hyundai, and Mazda, even though it still costs about the same. The extra features make the Jetta more valuable when added to its roomy cabin, large trunk, and strong engine. The Jetta also comes with a manual transmission for those who want to change gears by hand or save money.

Regarding speed and comfort, the Honda Civic is the best small car on the market. However, it costs more. The Jetta and the Civic have similar features and more space, but the Civic is more fun to drive. The fast Mazda 3 is also in this group, even though it’s more minor and less valuable because of that. While the Toyota Corolla is a good choice because of its reliable interior and long-lasting build, its slow pace makes it less appealing.

Pros

  • An excellent and quiet ride.
  • The cabin has a place to store things.
  • A modern feel comes from digital instruments that can be changed.

Cons

  • At low speeds, the brakes felt soft.
  • Touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel might be hard to use.
  • The house is less stable than the other buildings in the group.

The SE trim level of the Jetta is a good deal. It has some excellent features, like heated front seats and synthetic leather upholstery, that you might want for not much more than the base version. You can also get the top-of-the-line SEL model if you can afford it. It has a lot of options and isn’t too expensive for a small sedan.

Models of the Volkswagen Jetta

There are four trim options for the 2024 Volkswagen Jetta: S, Sport, SE, and SEL. The GLI type is also more sporty, which we will discuss separately. The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 158 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. It can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is standard on the S and Sport.
