Our Opinion - 2025 Chevrolet Corvette Review

The 2025 Corvette Stingray is Chevrolet’s base model sports car, but it’s not at all like the others. The 6.2-liter V-8 engine behind the cabin of this high-performance car gives it 490 horsepower and the speed to hit 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. The Corvette doesn’t come with a stick shift, which is a shame. However, the eight-speed automatic transmission changes gears smoothly and quickly when you use the shift paddles on the steering wheel. You’ll want to push yourself further and faster around every corner because the handling is so smooth and well-balanced. It’s really brave. But other things need to be thought about besides horsepower and trust in high-speed turns. The Corvette is a great choice for a daily driver because it is easy to ride in, has a roomy interior, and can carry a lot of luggage for a sports car. If you pick one of the best 3LZ models, you might even get luxury car features and comforts like Bose sound, better sports seats, a head-up display, and Nappa leather seats. Amazingly, you can get all of that and the unique look of the mid-engine Corvette for a lot less money than a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or McLaren. The Chevy will still get people’s attention, though, just like its rivals. For speed that is out of this world, look at the future Corvette ZR1, Z06, and E-Ray. We look at all of these cars separately.

Race to Win This year, Corvette buyers can choose between two new colors: Hysteria Purple Metallic and Yellow Tintcoat Metallic. Chevy also announced two new color choices for the inside of their cars: Habanero and Blue Stitch. Both have blue stitching on black leather. The Z51 Performance package comes with optional Velocity Yellow brake calipers and a reworked rear spoiler. The steering wheel airbag cover is wrapped in leather.

Pros

  • For days, Torque.
  • Maybe AWD, which is like the E-Ray.
  • It might be faster than the Z06.

Cons

  • A Corvette without a V-8 is a sin.
  • There are still a lot of deliveries to come.

The 490 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque 6.2-liter pushrod V-8 engine remains unchanged. The engine used to be in front of the cabin, but it is now behind it. The dual-mode performance exhaust in the Z51 package adds a little more power, bringing the total to 495 horsepower. The Z51 option comes with summer tires, stronger brakes, and an automatic limited-slip rear differential. The only transmission choice is an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, which is a first for a Corvette. Two big shift paddles on the steering wheel and a push-button gear selector in the center dash are used to control it. Manual gearboxes are unavailable. However, even the base 2017 Corvette is fast and easy to drive.

Some driver-assistance features are standard on all Corvette models, while others, including blind-spot monitoring, are available as options. For additional information regarding the Corvette’s crash test scores, visit the websites of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Some important safety factors are:

  • Standard automated emergency stopping that distinguishes motorcycles from pedestrians.
  • Normal lane exit alarm that helps you stay in your lane.
  • You can choose not to have blind-spot detection and back cross-traffic alerts.

Leather, real metal trim, and fake suede can be used to change the modern interior of the mid-engine C8 Corvette. It even has a nice cover with embroidery on it. There are still only two seats in the car. In terms of the roof, it fits in the trunk just below the engine and can be taken off the car by wrestling it off. In front of the driver is a 12.0-inch reconfigurable gauge display and a steering wheel that is squared off. A massive infotainment tablet angled toward the driver makes it easy for them to utilize. The interior design, which splits the cab in half and places a large bank of climate controls on a wall between the driver and passengers, emphasizes the driver. If you choose the top-of-the-line 3LT choice, the interior will have carbon-fiber trim and leather upholstery on most of the surfaces. There are two trunks in the Corvette: one in the front and one behind the engine. Together, they hold 13 cubic feet of stuff. Chevrolet says that the Corvette’s trunk can hold two sets of golf clubs stacked on top of each other. We put it to the test and found that it worked well with our set of clubs, which shows that Chevy is right. We accommodated one carry-on in the front trunk and two in the back when we tested it.

The EPA says that the Corvette gets 15 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg altogether. We tested its gas mileage on the highway at 75 mph and got 26 mpg, which was one mpg less than we thought it would get. The last generation—do you remember the Vette with the engine in the front?—got 27 mpg in the same test.

Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 Plus system is used in the 2018 Corvette. It has an 8.0-inch touchscreen, a 4G LTE mobile hotspot, and Bluetooth music streaming. It also works wirelessly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The UI is easy to use and responds quickly to requests.

We tested a car with the optional FE4 magnetorheological dampers and the Z51 speed package. The 0–60 mph time was 2.8 seconds, and the 122–mph quarter-mile pass took 11.2 seconds. It took 149 feet to stop from 70 mph, and it turned at a solid 1.03g on the skidpad.

The Corvette comes in two body styles: a coupe and a convertible with a hard top that folds down. We’d choose the car because the roof can be lifted for driving with the top down. We choose the 2LT trim because of all the great features, including blind-spot monitoring, a 14-speaker Bose audio system, adjustable temperature control for the seats, and a wireless charging pad for your phone. You can’t have a Corvette without the Z51 speed package, which includes the quickest components and makes racing possible.
