2024 Chevrolet Corvette Overview

What’s New?

  • Electric E-Rays are now available.
  • New driving aids
  • 2020 will bring the eighth Corvette.

Chevrolet swiftly enrages Corvette aficionados. The latest Corvette was unveiled with its odd cabin and engine in the middle. After four years, Chevy made it a hybrid. Not exactly. The 2024 Corvette has a V8 engine plus an electric power plant. The Corvette is a 600-horsepower all-wheel-drive sports automobile with over 100 horsepower to the front wheels. The E-Ray was Chevy’s final blow at the sceptics.

Corvettes are more comparable to E-Rays than Bolts. A small battery pack powers the motor and recharges itself as the vehicle moves. The 6.2-liter V8 engine is still up front. The car’s speed has increased. The Chevrolet E-Ray is one of the quickest cars available, with a 0-60 mph time of 2.5 seconds. The electric drive is especially useful for early morning commuters. Without the V8 to make noise, the E-Ray’s battery can propel it in EV-only Stealth mode at 45 mph.

The Corvette E-Ray will have standard Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. You can stop without brake fade on a local track day. Chevy’s Magnetic Ride Control suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport all-season tires are offered. 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Pilot Sport 4S summer tires maximise the E-Ray’s speed.

The Stingray and Z06 should be essentially the same, with one major exception. The new driver-assist features will either be an option or a standard feature. The Corvette does not have any advanced safety features like forward collision warning, AEB, lane departure warning, or lane keeping aid.

Live with them?

Invoice Pricing has driven a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette over 26,000 miles. It is comfy, goes well, and gets excellent gas mileage for a V8 sports vehicle. We recorded its maintenance costs, technology, and driving experience.

Pros

  • Rapid acceleration
  • The pricing is acceptable for high working limitations without superhuman abilities.

Cons

  • It takes work to get into.
  • Back visibility could be better.

How did the Corvette get there? When it comes to fast cars, there is nothing else quite like a Corvette. Our 3LT coupe with all-season tires achieved a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds (3.3 seconds with a 1 foot of start) in Invoice Pricing testing, and a quarter mile time of 11.8 seconds at over 118 mph. Timed at 120 km/h, the Z51 Performance Package takes 11.5 seconds (3.2 seconds with rollout). The brakes are not the best in its class, although the small front tires help. From 60 miles per hour, our 3LT test vehicle required 109 feet to get to a halt, whereas the Z51 Corvette with sticker tires required only 105 feet.

Due to its handling, even mediocre drivers can explore the car’s wide limits. The new eight-speed automatic transmission moves quickly and smoothly.

Corvette interior comfort? The Corvette has class-leading comfort. Our test car had optional MagneRide adjustable suspension. It handles bumps that most sports cars would find irritating. Comfort comes from little wind and machine noise, yet bad roads might cause tire noise.

Long-distance Corvette GT2 bucket seats are comfy. They keep you seated during rapid spins and have enough padding to make extended rides comfortable. The heated and cooled centres operate nicely, and the attractive climate control vents allow inadequate air.

The interior? The Corvette’s interior is stunning. Even though it is simple, people disagree on where to put the climate control buttons. They are not logically organised. Passengers may feel left out due to the lack of activities.

The Corvette is tougher to enter and exit than other sports vehicles with taller seats. Lack of parking worsens this scenario. Customers will likely circumvent it and not care. It will take time to adjust to decreased back-view. Even with Chevy’s camera-based rearview mirror display, back wall blind areas are large.

Tech quality? Chevrolet’s new Corvette entertainment system is sound. The tablet is close to the driver and provides transparent, current visuals, making it easy to operate. The 14-speaker Bose audio system is robust despite the compact interior. In our tests, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto’s basic wifi connectivity functioned well.

It has a back cross-traffic alert and cameras for low-speed handling but no emergency brakes or adaptive cruise control. An optional nose-lift system remembers steep roads using GPS. This is crucial. Chevrolet offers outstanding Performance Traction Management software.

Are you storing things? Mid-engine sports cars are only helpful to some people. However, the Corvette maximises space. Two shopping bags and two sports bags fit in the front and back trunks. The trunk is small when the Corvette coupe’s detachable top is in it.

The only storage is a narrow centre dash box and two modest cupholders, like other cars in this class. The felt-stuffed door pockets are long but small.

Is it gas efficient? The EPA rates the Corvette at 19 mpg (16 city/24 highway). Our test Corvette achieved 21.8 mpg on our 120-mile mixed-driving route, which is reasonable considering the exciting driving. High-performance automobiles can reach single digits with a solid road and muscular foot.

Buy a Corvette? Price may be if speed is not the Corvette’s most vital characteristic. Corvettes start at under $60,000. Even with additions like the Z51’s performance or the 3LT’s luxury, $75,000-$80,000 is fair. This Corvette’s build is good. The paint job and panel gaps appear and feel high-end.

Powertrain and basic warranties average five years and 50,000 miles. Roadside support and the first maintenance call are free for five years or 60,000 miles.

The C8 impresses easily. The Corvette is a comfortable everyday driver despite its ability to outperform sports vehicles by almost twice its price. The effort surprises them. Changes are unimaginable.

The Chevrolet Corvette 2024 has not been unveiled. Based on the pricing of the last model year’s Corvette, we expect the 2LT trim level (or 2LZ for the Z06) to be the greatest value. For about 10% more, you may upgrade to comfort features like heated and cooled seats, GPS, a better Bose sound system, and wireless phone charging.

Corvette models

The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 convertible sports a power-retractable hardtop or a manual roof panel. Z06 trims are 1LZ, 2LZ, and 3LZ. 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT are Corvette Stingray trim levels. The only coupe or convertible E-Ray is the 1LZ, similar to the Z06.

Both the Stingray and the Z06 feature rear-wheel drive with a V8 engine positioned in the centre of the vehicle. The Z06 has a high-revving 5.5-liter V8 that produces 670 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, while the base Stingray’s 6.2-liter V8 generates 490 hp and 465 lb-ft.

The E-Ray sports a significantly upgraded 6.2-liter V8 with 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. It also has a front-wheel electric motor. All-wheel-drive Corvettes have 655 horsepower from the V8 and electric motor.
