Our Opinion - 2025 Land Rover discovery sport Review In line with its name, the Land Rover Discovery Sport can go off-road, but many owners don’t bother with it. On the other hand, it’s not fun to drive on the road, and its slow pace and poor gas mileage make it uncompetitive in its class. The Baby Discovery is also getting old because this generation goes back to the 2015 model year and has only gotten small feature changes since then. But because it comes with stylish seats inside and third-row jump seats that can be added, the Discovery Sport is more flexible than other small luxury SUVs. The Discovery Sport’s tough look doesn’t beat our top picks in this class, which include the fast Porsche Macan, the luxurious Mercedes GLC, and the best value-for-money Genesis GV70. What's New? The Disco Sport choices for this year have changed a little. The Dogs package comes with a foldable pet carrier, a spill-proof drinking bowl, a portable cleaning tool, and a quilted floor liner for the storage bay. A bike cage, mud flaps, fixed side stairs, a rubber cargo bay floor liner, and rubber floor mats are all part of the new Biking Adventures package. Ambient lighting inside, automatic climate control for two zones, and the cabin air purifier are now all part of the Comfort package instead of being separate choices. Pros and Cons Pros Good style on the outside. It came with an all-wheel drive. Standard traits that look good. Cons Outdated design. Tight and uncomfortable third row. Poor fuel efficiency. Engine, Transmission, and Performance Each Discovery Sport has a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that can make 246 horsepower. With its basic all-wheel drive and a number of trail-rated add-ons, the Sport can handle any storm and move easily over rough terrain. It can pull up to 4409 pounds and go up to 23.6 inches deep for those who try. Curvy back roads aren’t very exciting, and the car isn’t very easy to control. The Discovery Sport is a good choice because it’s a comfortable rider. Safety Land Rover has many safety features, such as high-tech video systems and a basic set of modern driver and safety aids. This one has adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with front collision recognition, lane-keeping assist, and more. The following are important safety features: Automatic detection of pedestrians and emergency stopping. Normal lane exit warning with help to stay in your lane. The usual kind of variable cruise control. Internal and External Cargo Capacity The Discovery Sport keeps up the high-end image of the brand with a dashboard that looks like those in more expensive and flashy Land Rovers. There are more seat options in the cabin, and the materials used are better for the environment. The seats in the car we tested were comfortable enough for trips that lasted four hours or more. The base models have a fixed glass panoramic roof, automatic climate control for two zones, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, fake leather upholstery, and front seats that can be adjusted in 12 different ways. You can choose not to have a pair of third-row jump seats. Under the second row of seats, the Discovery Sport can hold up to 28 cubic feet of stuff. Even though the Cadillac XT5 has three more cubic feet of trunk space than the Audi Q5, its 30-cubic-foot room is not enough. Fuel Economy and Actual MPG The EPA says that the Discovery Sport gets 20 mpg total, 23 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg in the city. The Land Rover needs more gas than other high-end compact SUVs. When we tested its gas mileage on the highway at 75 mph, it used a lot of gas, getting only 21 mpg. Other cars with all-wheel drive, like the Acura RDX, only got 25 mpg in our tests, while the six-cylinder BMW X3 M40i got 29 mpg. Infotainment and Connectivity Each Discovery Sport model comes with a digital gauge display and an 11.4-inch tablet with Land Rover’s newest Pivi Pro interface for entertainment. A head-up display and a mobile hotspot are extra entertainment features that can be added. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are built-in and can be used wirelessly. A high-end Meridian 11-speaker sound system comes with all types. Range, Charging, and Battery Life On our test track, the Disco Sport took 7.5 seconds to reach 60 mph. That is slower than several of the SUV’s competitors, including the GLC class, which did well in the same test, coming in at 5.7 seconds. Price and How to Choose The Discovery Sport S type would still be used. There are many comfort and ease features to choose from, such as a digital gauge display, a Meridian sound system, heated power front seats, wireless charging for smartphones, and a panoramic glass roof. The Comfort package has temperature controls in the back, ambient lighting inside, and a system that filters the air inside the cabin. We would pay more for this package.
