2022 Honda Insight Overview

The 2022 Honda Insight is like a middle sibling that should not be overlooked, sitting between the smaller Honda Civic and the larger Honda Accord in terms of size. The 2022 Insight is attracting a lot of attention for the hybrid market thanks to its exceptional gas mileage, quick acceleration by hybrid standards, and sleek and spacious interior.

Will the booming of the gasoline engine excite you? The Honda Insight for 2022 deserves a closer examination. To find out what’s new for 2022, including models and trims that are available, how the Insight drives, and what type of fuel efficiency it delivers, keep reading to the conclusion of this review.

The new lineup for 2022 has undergone a few alterations. On the higher trim levels, blind spot monitoring with a cross-traffic monitor is now standard (the EX and Touring, to be more precise). Dual-zone built-in navigation, climate control, and leather seats are now standard on the Touring, to name a few features.

The 2022 Honda Insight comes in three trim levels: the base LX, the mid-level EX, and the top-of-the-line Touring. This year, the Honda Sensing suite (which combines driving aids) is standard on all trim levels, with rear cross-traffic warning and a blind-spot monitoring system added to the two higher trim levels. These two items were not available at all in the 2020 lineup, so it’s wonderful to see them in the EX and Touring trim levels this year.

The 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine in the 2022 Honda Insight drives the vehicle’s two front wheels. This vehicle generates a total of 151 horsepower when paired with the hybrid motor and batteries. It accelerates rapidly for a hybrid, taking roughly 8.1 seconds to get up to speed. Furthermore, the steering offers plenty of input and reacts fast to the driver’s demands. Drivers can change directions fast while staying safe.

The regenerative brakes work well, bringing the car to a 123-foot stop from 60 mph. The brakes are simple to adjust, and you’ll always know how they’ll react in a given situation. However, you may note that the brakes feel a little stiff when you use a firm brake pedal. While in Normal mode, the regenerative brakes will also reset themselves.

The inside remains big and comfortable for a vehicle in this class. Large road bumps are not usually smoothed out, while you’ll generally glide over medium-sized bumps. At highway speeds, the gasoline-powered motor gets a little finicky, so you’ll hear it in the cabin. Everything else, on the other hand, is fairly subdued.

The design is utilitarian, with plenty of physical and digital controls on the touchscreen interface that are properly labeled and located for quick access. There’s also a good view out the front and plenty of cargo capacity (15 cubic feet when all seats are left in place).

The 2022 Honda Insight’s strongest selling point is, of course, its excellent gas mileage. It gets 48-52 miles per gallon in mixed driving, according to the EPA. This is, without a doubt, one of the best fuel economy rates available on any automobile right now. Real-world tests have shown that these estimations are accurate, with a combined mileage of roughly 50 mpg. Even the Prius will struggle to keep up with this.

Every facet of the 2022 Honda Insight’s performance is comparable to those of its competitors. And it outperforms the competition in several of these areas. You’ll be hard pushed to find another vehicle that gets equivalent gas mileage while still being enjoyable to drive. The hybrid powertrain also displays a lot of power potential, as seen by the quick acceleration it achieves.

The comfortable and spacious interior is an added plus, demonstrating Honda’s versatility in vehicle design. The new Honda Insight’s attention to detail on the inside, outside, and behind the hood reflects this commitment to quality. The Insight is on track to be a top contender in the hybrid sedan market either now or in the coming years.
