2022 Volvo XC90 Overview

Introducing the 2022 Volvo XC90, a high-end model in the segment of mid-size SUVs. Considering this is Volvo’s only three-row vehicle in its current inventory, they don’t hold anything back with this model. In addition to an impressive array of standard and optional safety and technological features, the Volvo XC90 offers a choice of three different engine options. The interior and exterior styling of this SUV is appealing, and it comes equipped with the most cutting-edge comfort features now available.

The second version of this vehicle was released in 2016. The XC90 gets a major upgrade for 2022. Adaptive Headlamps, front self-parking, and elevated headlight washers are now standard on all models. The 2022 XC90 receives two USB-C ports in the backseat, as well as standard wireless device charging. The T8 hybrid engine, formerly known as the Recharge, will be renamed this year.

Its T5, T6, or Refresh engines will be available for the Volvo XC90 in 2022. When it comes to horsepower and torque, the T5’s turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder delivers 250 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The T6 is essentially the same engine, but it is supercharged to produce 316 hp and 294 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful version.

The Recharge powertrain combines the T6 engine with an electric engine and battery pack. 400 hp with 472 lb-ft of power can be achieved by combining the output of both engines. Plug-in hybrid electricity is provided by the Recharge. It has an electric range of up to 18 kilometers when fully charged.

Volvo’s Sensus infotainment system is standard equipment on all XC90 models. With a 9-inch touchscreen, it’s easy to use. Wireless phone charging and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity are also included as standard equipment, as is a participating audio system. With T6 or Recharge powertrain, navigation is standard.

In 2022, the XC90 will get some serious sound enhancements. It is possible to go with a Harman Kardon 14-speaker system as an alternative. Bowers & Wilkins’ 15-speaker audio system is the second choice.

When it comes to loading capacity for a three-row luxury SUV, the XC90 is head and shoulders above the others. 15.8 cubic feet of cargo space is available in the third row. Cargo capacity rises to 41.8 cubic meters when the third row is removed. An incredible 85.7 cubic yards of storage capacity may be gained by lowering down the 2nd and 3rd seats of a Toyota RAV4. The best part is that the hands-free power liftgate is standard on every model.

The 2020 Volvo XC90 may not be flawless, but it’s difficult to find many faults with it. This is a must-see for anyone looking for a luxury SUV.

The XC90’s luxurious interior is evident as quickly as the driver gets into the driver’s seat. A panoramic sunroof and automated climate control are both included as standard equipment. While the T6 and Recharge variants come equipped with leather upholstery, all AWD models get heated front seats. Memory settings for the driver’s seat, which are ideal for individuals who split driving duties with another person, are also standard.

As always, a higher mid-size sedan will improve the vehicle’s overall comfort. A heated wheel and heated 2nd seats are among the options. There’s also an air ionizer that contributes to air quality in the cabin by ionizing the air. For some of the 2022 XC90 variants, ambient and is available as an option. The additional Lounge package adds a massaging function for the front chairs and imitation suede headliners to really take things to another level.

All-wheel drive and front-wheel drive are both options for the T5 engine. Models with this powertrain and FWD can achieve city fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg and highway fuel economy ratings of 30 mpg.

Choosing AWD results in a decrease in city and highway mileage to 20 mpg and 27 mpg, respectively. The 2022 XC90’s T6 engine gets 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway when paired with AWD, which is standard on all XC90s. Recharge, which is only available with AWD, gets a cumulative 55 mpg if the battery is charged at all times

The XC90 in 2022 will be considerably better guarded from all sides thanks to the addition of front parking sensors. Reverse parking cameras, a driver alertness monitor, blindspot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control are just some of the other standard features of this three-row SUV. It is possible to make getting in and out of the vehicle even easier with optional driver aids such as the 360-degree video system and hands-free parking assist.
