2022 Volvo XC40 Overview

The Volvo XC40 is among the most popular newcomers in the luxury SUV market. Next year’s 2022 Volvo Expressed as a number is a smaller version of its larger siblings, but it still packs a powerful punch and a sense of distinction.

The T4 (which comes standard with front-wheel drive and produces 184 horsepower) and the more powerful T5 turbocharged engines are the two available turbocharged options. In terms of fuel economy, both engines are good enough, but we’ll get into that later. Drivers should be pleased with both selections, although the T5 is expected to be the more popular one.

A typical Volvo refinement can be found on the inside of this vehicle. The high-quality materials used in the interiors are a clear reminder of Sweden’s particular design. You’ll even get Orrefors crystal on the gear shift knob if you choose the line-topping Inscription trim! What could possibly scream “luxury” more loudly?

It’s a bummer that the Volvo XC40’s infotainment system and cargo area fall short of expectations. Using the touchscreen can be a challenge, including for drivers who are accustomed to using these types of systems. Additionally, the cargo area is smaller than that of competitors.

Is the Volvo XC40 the ideal SUV for your needs? What information should you have before making a purchase? The XC40’s driving dynamics and fuel economy will be examined, as well as what’s new for 2022 in terms of body variants and trim levels.

In addition to leather trim, blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic dimming on the energy side mirrors, the Volvo XC40 gets two USB charging connections for the back seats in the 2018 model year, as well. Despite the fact that the AM audio tuner is just no longer accessible, TuneIn Radio provides access to those AM channels.

The heated wiper blades and the formerly normal 12-volt socket in the luggage compartment are now included as part of a bundle. A brand-new all-electric XC40 Recharge with a pair of dual motors is also available.

The 2020 Volvo XC40 is an additional luxury SUV that may be ordered in a variety of trim levels. A fuel engine or an all-electric system can now be ordered.

This vehicle is available in three powertrains, as well as a variety of trims. To put it simply, it’s powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that cranks out 221 lb-ft of power. Two hundred and forty-eight horsepower and two hundred and eighty-foot-pounds of torque are delivered by the T5. Both engines come with 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Recharge, on the other hand, is equipped with all-wheel drive and is propelled by 2 electric motors with a combined output of 402 horsepower. Volvo expects it to have a range of more than 200 miles on a single charge and a quick recharging time.

The Momentum is the most basic trim level. The external lighting is all LED, the wipers are rain-sensing, the wheels are 18 inches, the infotainment system is 12.3 inches, and the smartphone app integration is standard via Android Auto Auto. The driver’s seat is also 8 ways power-adjustable. A power liftgate, keyless, and an eight-speaker audio system are all included. With a rearview monitor, driver attentiveness warning, adaptive headlamps, lane keep assist, and forward-collision warning, all XC40s are outfitted with the latest safety technology.

The Premium and Expert options are available for the Momentum. The Premium has built-in navigation, energy rear headrest, keyless, front parking sensors, with a dual temperature control system. Adaptive cruise control, headlamp washers, ambient inside lighting, a 360º surround-view camera, a 12-volt luggage area outlet, and an inductive charging pad are all included in the Advanced model.

Among the R-additional Design’s features are a black painted roof, largely black exterior trimming, a panoramic sunroof, enhanced leather seating, and the Premium Package’s contents.

The XC40’s interior gets wood trim, a crystal gear shift knob, special 19-inch alloys, and a silver grille with the Inscription package.

Despite its 6.8-second 0-60 time, the XC40 is agile enough. Transmission shifts down as necessary, and engine stop-start is quite delicate. The XC40 can also do some minor off-roading because of its 8.3-inch ground clearance, small eaves, and AWD on the T5. It can also tow 3,500 lbs, which is more than the typical amount.

When you get the XC40 up to speed, you’ll be surprised by how light it feels to manoeuvre. This car can be top-heavy and jarred by larger bumps. The suspension takes care of minor humps with ease. In general, the driver-road link is weaker than it could be.

The forward-angled headrests may not be suitable for taller drivers. A decent level of support is provided by the seats, which are also rather solid.

The T5 with AWD may achieve a combined fuel economy of 26 mpg. A few miles lower than that of the EPA estimates, this number would be somewhat above average in the real world. The FWD T4 figures appear to outperform its rivals.

When it comes to the Volvo XC40 of 2022, you can expect luxury from this vehicle and a respectable level of power. With how well the Refill holds up against the other high-end EVs, it illustrates how forward-thinking as Volvo evolves.
